i bought columbine seeds and still haven't planted them (or any other seeds). 🤦🏼♀️ they are native here so hopefully i'll get some strong plants out of them and get blooms next year.

For that photo I was beside runway 16 right and using D800e Nikon with 24-70mm F/2.8G lens at 70mm. 1/800sec shutter speed because the plane was going pretty fast by that time and I was very close to it. A unique angle. This was the 100th Boeing airplane for Qantas. It's original name was City of Mandurah. It was handed over at 18 September 1992. By March 2022 it appears to have been in the process of being dismantled.

Twice I've seen them growing in a natural setting around here, and they were growing out of the cracks of limestone cliff edges. I think they are surprisingly tough!

Neat seeing the 47 - my Dad was a senior engineer and then executive at Boeing and had a big hand in its development. My family has over 200 years at Boeing. Don't get me going on what it's become ...
Columbines are an amazing plant! I have multiple ones at my house.

I have had them in the past and they didn't come back a second year, but when I get around to planting them I'll put them in a different spot. Sometimes I plant things in the wrong area accidentally, and sometimes the deer get to them and it's always hard to tell which is which. I have always loved them though.
Interesting how the roots are raising them above the sand. Thanks for sharing!

A little sibling nibbling...... Yesterday was a lucky one for me when Mother Goose and her three surviving goslings (I'm guessing a predator got the fourth one) came swimming by on my side of the lake. At one point there was enough distance between the mother and her offspring for me to get some shots of just the three wee ones. Yes, the guy in the middle is nibbling at the fuzzy down on his sibling's back!

I bought a couple of the ornamental kind, blue and pink. The blue one didn't come back, but the pink one did just fine. They were practically right next to each other!
