What is your budget? What type of riding do you want to be doing?

No clue about budget but I'd say it is around $600-$700. I would be sticking to paved trails/roads no offroad/gravel type of riding. Hope that is helpful. If I need to clarify things more I can certainly do that for you.

I dont have a picture but....could any of you all recommend an entry-level road bike for a beginner/someone wanting to get into cycling.
i would pay a visit to your LBS(local bike shop), they would recommend a bike to fit your particular needs. you could demo whatever bikes they have and they can adjust it to your ride comfort.

My Ti frame 1998 Litespeed front shock went, however all other components working fine , full XTR with old school vbrakes.
Got a good replacement shock, now riding again.
The color white does not fit the best, prior shocks have been blue ( original 1998 SID), then black (2004 Skarab).

Good advice…..

Don't sweat too much about it. Just get a basic bicycle with a few gears and ride. If you are really into cycling you'll you'll find out what suits your needs.

I have been cycling to get around since I was a seven year old kid (over 50 years ago) either supplementing a motor vehicle or as my mainstay. I have ridden all sorts of bikes in that time, just whatever has been available to beg, borrow or buy, and have enjoyed most within their limits. My current daily ride is the one pictured below (in commuting and touring mode) which I picked up for about $US 120 new, about 12 years ago. Every moving part has been replaced at least once, and I am on my fourth set of tyres.

I use it for commuting and most trips within about a 10 mile radius of where I live, and I have done a little touring on it. I have a small motorcycle for most longer journeys.

Love looking thru these pictures. Makes me think sometimes I should have gotten into bike racing rather than auto racing. Might have a few extra bucks in my pocket...tho perhaps not many given what some of these things cost.

the GMC Denali is an entry level road bike that usually sells between $50-$150 used on Craigslist...

This set me back about $100 (new; basket, lights and bell were an additional $25), nearly 12 years ago, and is still serving me well as my daily ride for commuting and recreation.

Not a starter bicycle for me though. I began riding on a mate's bike at the age of six, some 55 years ago, and got my own first bike 4 or 5 years later. It was a single speed, with just a back pedal actuated rear brake. Have always owned one since, and have ridden in about 15 different countries since then on various owned, borrowed and rented bicycles over the years.

2015 Aventon Mataro. After years of riding dirt bikes, mountain bikes then road bikes I finally gave trackbikes a try. This singlespeed/fixed gear 48/16 ratio bike is awesome.

I've done a Century Ride (4 boroughs of NYC), Tour De Bronx, Tour of Newark, and countless other rides. I ride solo during the week, Thursdays are meetup with a local bike collective. Nothing special it's more for socializing. On the weekends I ride with a group from Uptown Manhattan. Serious riders, we put down 50+ miles every ride. The usual happens, we ride as a group then someone attacks and the sprint is on. This is my gym.

Picture of my living room before we moved west. We now have a room dedicated to bikes. Both the Mrs and I have worked in a bike shop and love cycling of all kinds.
