Thats bad....Now people should just used their phone instead of worrying about the battery cause looks like it did not work out for you.

I agree. My X was charged "careless" during the time that I used it (December'17 to September'18) and was sold with 92% of battery health. Next week I will give the Logi Wireless charger a chance.

How do you get the coconut battery to work on a iphone?
If you have a Mac, you will need to download the software. Coconut battery used to work on iOS but Apple has removed the API since iOS 10. Therefore will only work if you plug in your phone to your mac computer.

I don’t trust the capacity estimates. I sold my 8 plus after 10 months and it still showed 100%. Unless my battery came with 105% capacity, that’s hard to believe.

My wife’s launch x finally dropped to 99% a few months ago. It’s at 97% now. She’s a very heavy user and even uses a battery case which adds heat and stress to the internal battery.

My 2 month old 8 plus and my daughters 8 plus both still show 100%.

As for proper charging habits, it’s true that batteries hate heat and extremes. Going from 40-80 and always keeping it cool will extend their life. I used to be a battery ocd fool with my phones. At the end of the day it’s NOT worth it! This isn’t an electric car battery that costs thousands of dollars. If you keep your phone for 2 years and the capacity has dropped, spend the $80 for a new battery or buy a new phone. Making extremely impractical and annoying life changes to babysit a battery isn’t worth it when the payoff is saving $80 over 18-24 months. You can beat the hell out of your phone and not notice any capacity loss that will affect your usage for at least a year. If you want to save $80 and constantly monitor your battery then go ahead. I used to charge to 80% and never overnight. It feels much better to just charge to 100% and forget it.

iPhone XS 64 since day one (end of september). I use it about 30min per day and I noticed biggest battery degrade when my iPhone last about 3 days between loadcycle 35 - 36. I'm keeping battery between 20 - 85%, only sometimes is juiced up to 100%. Mostly charged by MacBook Pro by 500 mA.

...

Interesting, I’m also down to 95% (XS October purchase) and have noticeably worse battery performance in the last few weeks.

This is after exactly 1 month of heavy usage on my XR.

Not happy but I guess it was to be expected.
On Mondays and Thursdays it spends a lot of time on the charger to be used as a satnav for work. I regularly drain it to sub 20% as well before a full charge with an iPad charger at night.

I’ve also just done a full DFU firmware reflash and setup as new on Monday, so this might have triggered the software to report the lower battery health now.

Coincidentally the battery doesn’t seem be be lasting quite as long as before when I was on the 12.2 beta (now on 12.1.4) so not sure if something has gone wrong in the restore or if I’m just imagining something is wrong.

Bought on launch day, Oct 26. iPhone XR. Heavy daily usage, basically since I got the XR I have been using it almost all the time. Barely touch my iPad or computer.

I was at 94.3% of original capacity so I start to charging it every time to 100% in coconutBattery (about hour after iPhone says 100%) and battery gets significantly better.

My XS purchased at launch is at 98% (coconut battery says 98.8%) with 51 cycles. The first time I checked battery health about 2 months ago it was at 98% so may have started out at that percentage. From what I've read they don't all start at 100% so guess I'm a loser at the battery lottery. :( Phone works fine however. My X purchased at launch last year was still 100% at the end of the year. I was using a 12 watt charger originally to charge faster, but have gone back to the slower charging of the 5 watt it came with in case that helps at all.
