lol, oh right, so those top five games are not gonna be top sellers.
Perhaps so, but a top seller for the PS3 < a top seller for the Wii.
^Hooray for predictable sequels for all platforms. Once Sony's run out we'll get excited for all of Nintendo's cash cows.

I think you guys somehwat underestimate some of Sony's upcoming software titles.
Wii may own the hardware market, but the JPN top ten list will start to go back and forth very soon.

Also, some of your comparisons are ridiculous. There has been one Mario Kart per Nintendo console since the SNES- ONE. That's four total (SNES, GBA, N64, DS). And single player SSBB? SSBB has been confirmed to be online on at least three-four different occasions, including on stage by Satoru Iwata himself, as well as by the director. There are not even rumors about it not having online play, just some people getting overly upset over the Metroid thing. EVERYONE at Nintendo says Brawl is online.

Unfortunately, the most wanted list and the actual sales list differ vastly.

The first non-Nintendo platform game is a PS2 game (Super Robot Wars) in place #14. No PS3 on the list, nor 360, nor PSP.
Nintendo dominates Japan, Sony can only sell the PSP and PS2 in significant numbers (PS3 is still below the GameCube's weekly numbers from this point in time).

That was my point. For all the complainers/naysayers who are bitching about lack of games......this list begins to shed some light on the issue. Currently, there aren't many PS3 games that were highly anticipated(hence current sales trends), but they are starting to show up. Once they do, the top 10 sales charts will see some changes. I think DS will still have a dominant presence on the list, but the Wii and PS3 will begin to go back and forth(depending on whats being released). But that all starts very VERY soon.

That might happen if there were, you know, as many PS3s in Japan as Wiis. But it stands to reason, given the huge gap in units (3:1, and increasing), that the best-selling game on the PS3 won't move as many copies as even a pretty-good-selling Wii title.
Agreed that, because of user base, Wii games will probably have more staying power in the top 10, but the top spots will definitely be going back and forth. Ninja Gaiden Sigma opened up at number 3, but due to hard to find stock and low install base, sales the following week fell off(more so than say Wii Sports/Play).
I can't see too much coming out for 360 that would cause a dramatic surge.......

PS3 is the best bet, but needs at least 2 more price drops and a plethora of titles to gain any kind of noticeable ground. The Japanese market will be Wii dominant for the next 2-3 years easy. Unless of course something unexpected happens.

Square Enix has a number of multiplatform exclusives in the works, IIRC, including one with the Unreal 3 engine.
So few people have bought either system that it could swing around. I doubt the 360 will dominate but it might achieve GameCube-level sales in its lifespan IF Microsoft can keep grabbing exclusives like Blue Dragon.

Come on now, SDF have been rubbing their figures around for the past 2 gens and you complain when we're a year into Nintendo's winning gen?
ps. As a gamer I don't care much, but as a dev looking into which system I should start developing for I find it very important.

It's going to take something groundbreaking (and by that I don't mean anything we've seen so far at E3's and the like) for anything to remotely touch the Wii from here on. PS3 sales on rise, 360 almost stagnating, Wii... well.
