I finally wiped and started fresh. No longer want to throw my phone at the floor each time search fails. For everyone else following this thread: take the hit and move on with your life

Some you took the hit did you follow my instructions and if so we’re they clear enough. I just want to make sure that they’re easy to follow and made sense

1. If you have synced music via Apple Music, Spotify, or podcasts then delete the files from your device and set them to streaming only. This way when iCloud syncs it won’t try to sync GB’s of data that you don’t need immediately. Same goes for photos, let everything live in the cloud.

Hi, I just received my second iPhone 11 Pro Max, so I’m ready to start. Please can you clarify this point.

Where do I delete the files?

Don’t worry about Spotify. Apple Music will start to automatically download music slowing down things. Spotify won’t download anything until you launch the app and log back in

Where do I delete the Apple Music Library?

Go to settings → music → downloaded music then hit the edit button in the top right and hit the red minus sign next to all music. This will delete all the music on the device. And will speed up the process since Apple Music won’t try to download your music library off the bat

Thanks done!
But my iCloud Backup already has backed up everything including photos to the cloud already?

Looks like it. Photos should automatically backup to iCloud. If you have another device signed into iCloud you can check to see if all your photos on your phone are on that other Device.

Also check your settings to make sure iCloud photos are enabled. Should be enabled by default

thanks! Optimise iPhone Storage is ticked on mine. Should it be set to download and keep original before setting up new phone?

Just to say this seems to be fixed in 13.4. I still plan to setup and wipe but things have not had the time.

Keep us posted

I am pretty sure this has been fixed now. Spotlight has not failed yet and the problems I had with messages indexing have gone. Battery life seems better and a bug with shortcuts failing seems to have been resolved as well.
Fingers crossed they won’t break it again but who knows. I will be fresh profiling when I can ideally with a new phone and iOS 14 after this experience.

Hi all
I have an iPad pro 11 and with 13.4 iPad OS the spotlight search does not work (a certain time after installing 13.4 s/w from scratch) any more. After changing the language, the spotlight search seems to work again but then it fails again. I have not been able to recover, ever, the settings search.
What have you found as workaround / solution please?
Thanks

Guys any feedbacks please? Notably on iPad? The issue seems to persist (randomly so far...) in 13.4.1 too.
Thanks for your support
Rgds

I had that issue on my iPhone when iOS 13 came out. I tried a bunch of things but nothing worked. I ultimately had to reset my device and start over from scratch. The instructions I followed are posted above. Let me know if you have questions

Hi Slevin
Thanks for your reply. I did a fresh reinstallation from scratch (no backup from Mac or from iCloud) and after 2-3 days the problem reappeared on my iPad.
IPadOS 13.4.1 does not seem to have fixed the issue. It is mainly the settings search which is broken and does not work anymore....Dear Apple help!!!

I had that in iOS 12. Search would work but settings would go missing. I am afraid if you have done a wipe and set the ipad up as a fresh device (no restore) then you may have to try and contact apple, 13.4 fixed all my search issues so far including settings which was sporadic on iOS 12.
