Yep in the watch app in General go to the bottom, but you have found it. I think I posted yesterday NO WAY this was a 2 day life. But then I check my usage after a day of emperors new clothes checking things out and I'm pretty sure the watch will deliver even with AOD on.

I came looking for this thread after seeing I was on 40% after about 14hrs non-exercise usage on my S4

Digging around I see that wOS6 has a Background Refresh available for all apps, all the time by default. I’ve turned this off for a bunch of stuff where it would add no value and I’m hoping that helps.

I have just swapped my S3 42mm with an S5LTE 44mm and batterry life is really bad ...
Is it due to watchOS6 ?
Yesterday I have made a 1h20 running session and I had to put my watch in charge at 6pm (only 20% remaining).
ALways on activate and LTE during workout.
Today, without workout, 8am: 100% : 3pm: 60%
Not very good ...
This could literally be me. Slow sunday today without workout, and yet I had to top up - otherwise I wouldn‘t have made it to bedtime ...

Way better than yesterday. AOD and noise off today. Took off charger at 8:00 am again. It’s now 3:45 pm. More like S4 battery life on OS5. Still don’t know what makes up the 1 hour 51 mins usage though. Today I have NOT been in the watch. Few notifications and couple watch face changes. Maybe 5 mins active use.

Tomorrow I will turn AOD back on.

My battery life isn't terrible but it's definitely not nearly as good as my old watch. It's a new device and OS so not entirely unexpected.

I always disable ‘hey Siri’, I think most forget about this setting, it does help preserve the battery life, being the microphone is not constantly listening for the users voice.

8am off charger for both of us. It is now 2:26pm. Wife's Apple Watch 5 is at 64% and my Apple Watch 5 is at 82%. Only difference is AOD.

With AOD off, my AW5 is doing very similar if not better than my AW3.

How do you burn 786 calories in 37 minutes? :)

Both same size watches? Or is hers the smaller watch with the smaller battery?

Ha. Good catch. You win the prize. 5K tracked this am was worth 400 calories and was tracked with my Garmin Fenix 5+, which is linked to my Health account. The 37 mins are exercise mins above x heart rate from the (embarrassingly slow) 5K.

The 786 is “move” calories which includes some other movement at certain HR which I’ve never figured out. Probably some before and after walk time, housework etc.

Oh, and quit creeping on my watch face...

Wow great question that I completely didn't even think about.

Wife has 40mm and I have 44mm. I guess I just assumed they had same battery! <Internet search here I come>

"The 44mm Apple Watch has a slightly bigger battery than the 40mm watch due to more room in the casing." Doh, always assumed same. (She had 38mm and I had 42mm before).

Apple doesn’t differentiate in their 18 hour claims, but I believe it’s been proven despite the smaller screen size the battery is not proportional.

My wife and I have S4 watches. She regularly runs battery down faster than I with similar usage. Always has.

That would explain the same thing with my wife and I. She always got worse battery life with her AW3 - figured it was cuz she was active in social media and actually has friends. lol. Thanks - learn something new every day.

Was shocked to look down at my Series 5 watch and see that my battery percentage was only 19% with 3 hours left in my workday ... I could usually get through the day above 50% with my series 4.

Granted I now have an LTE watch and was excited to be able to not have my phone on me all day ... but I guess that’s not possible at this stage.

Mmmm battery life is ok but not as good as my old S2 'So Far'!

Ok so I've been playing with it a little and trying a few things, normal couple of walking exercise routines at the weekend and mid brightness.

Usage - 3hrs 44Mins
Standby - 13hrs 22Mins
Battery left - 35%

Its the first full day, got a good few complications on but so far there is NO WAY this is a 2 day watch like a prior series if AOD is activated!!

Loving the AOD but if you like I do go away overnight on business without a charger I'd say you need to turn AOD off. See what tomorrow brings.

- Going to turn off the Listening complication tomorrow and see how things go on day 2.
My s3 has never lasted two days on a charge no matter what I do or don’t do with it.

Series 4. I’ve noticed worse battery life also. It is not as extreme as some people here but it’s definitely worse. Is they going to be a watchOS update on Tuesday as well does anybody know?

Series 5 Apple Watch here, highly disappointed so far. Got my Watch Friday so by the time I set it up and everything, it was time to go on the charger for the night. Saturday was bad. Woke up around 8AM and put the watch on. I always set my iPhone up as new every year, so hadn’t even gotten around to opening up apps and setting up notifications. So literally the watch was just a watch, not giving me any notifications or anything. By 7PM the watch was dead. Reset it and all that. Today, almost just as bad. Didn’t put the watch on today until a little after 10AM, and it’s 7:29PM now and the Watch is at 22%. I haven’t gone to the gym or anything, but I have major concerns about the battery life when I do.

Day two and I'm not seeing any improvements. I will give it a few more days but my watch went dead yesterday and 5pm and I've already had to fully recharge it today because by 12pm it was down to 50%, coming off the charger at 6am. This is concerning to say the least.
