I think this is one of the best riding cars ever made. My parents had a 1998 S500 and it was just a great car.
We also have W210, Alfa 166 and Opel Corsa. 1997, 1999 and 2005 models respectively. They are extremely powerful.
Alfa Romeo 3.0 V6, Opel Corsa 1.7 DTI, Mercedes 2.2

1986 Camaro IROC-Z. A student at a high school I went to in 1986 had one - brand new.

1989 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe. I once had the pleasure of riding in one in 1993.

1996 Chevy Impala SS.

These are by no means the extent of the cars I like, but they are the ones that come to mind when the question is asked.

Mine was a 1985 (first year for IROC badging). It produced 190HP from its 5L V8 and would chirp the tires going from 1st to 2nd with an automatic.

To illustrate how power production has changed, the offspring's MB GLA 250 has a 2L turbo and produces 235 HP.

I'm just a kid of the 80s. :D

I graduated high school at 18 in 1989 so these types of cars were what I gravitated to. There's a story behind the kid with the IROC though. He totalled that car because he was a speeder. Then he went on to total two more (different cars) before his parents refused to get him another car.

Mini trucks were the big craze from '87 to '90 as I recall. Lowered Nissans and Toyotas, specifically.

Five years ahead of you. :)

Crashed (totaled) my RX7 (not my fault) my first month in college. So here I am away from home, no car and in a small town without any public transport.

Dad tells me me to look around and see what I can find. Just so happens there was one dealer in town, a Chevy dealer. Walked in and a black IROC had just hit the lot. So after some "negotiation" with dad, it was mine 2 days later.

Probably worth more now than what we paid.

LOL!

My wife is class of 1984! :D

Loved the RX-7s. My uncle had one and I managed to get a few rides in it out of him. He was being nice; who wants to drive around their 12-13 year old nephew when they're in their mid-20s? :D

I always will have a soft spot for Chrysler 300s....

And I love Dodge Vipers!

1707073335432.jpeg

It seems fitting that I'd also love the "Mercedes Viper" AMG GT lol.

I have a real soft spot for the Mercedes Gullwings too. I just don't lust after a car I could never own.

I also like the Panamera, just in general I love Porsches - partially the 911 for its consistency...

Also up there: Jeep Wranglers, the classic Citroen DS, any Tri-5 chevy, 1950s-70s Cadillacs (and some modern ones too like the CT6 blackwing), Mini Coopers, VW beetles, various other supercars I'm too lazy to think about because I'll probably never own one lol..

And just because I like Australian Road Trains…Mack

19964840430_f86a62097d_h.jpg

You might notice that in the case of the trucks I name above, none of them are cabovers. Although cabovers are common in America I don't particularly care for the look, but most importantly we (America) do not have the size restrictions that Europe does. That allows for bigger semi-trucks.

PS. Most states in America limit trailers to doubles with some states permitting triples. But road trains aren't allowed in the US. That's because we built railroads. Australia is different.

I have never thought cabovers were safe. I want some steel out in front of me.
Well, they aren't. At least here in America. The steering wheel is vertical in cabovers and that makes the steering wheel shaft vertical and therefore difficult to be collapsible in an accident. From what I've read in the past, steering wheel impacts have injured and killed a lot of cabover drivers.

You don't see cabovers as much anymore, but they are still out there. They were economical to build and so had their day.

I'm more of a station wagon type myself, possibly because that is the type of car my father bought until the mid-80s.

If I'm going for that though, my money is going to be on the Dodge Magnum.

I drive an A4 Avant and my wife drives a Q4 e-tron but my dream car before we all go electric is the RS6 Avant. Plenty of horsepower, sounds amazing but practical enough to go on holiday with the kids without compromise. My cousin has one of these and I’m insanely jealous.

The upper trims of the Macan have been tickling my fancy, there is something to that ubiquitous led on contemporary back-ends.

In my dreams, too, SL63 AMG and M8 Convertible. Apart from that, my dream is the 1978 Mercedes 450SEL. Let me go to university and finish it, let's start with getting the SL63
