What kinds of Windows laptops do you want to see at CES?

- 7nm and 10nm CPU options from AMD and Intel (4/6 core demo/announcements)
- USB 3.2 support (hopefully native chipset support)
- 802.11ax (demo/announcements)
- PCIe 4.0 thus Thunderbolt 4 (demo/announcements)
- DDR5 (demo/announcements)
- More Bluetooth 5.0
- More entry models with SSD instead of HDD (sub $400)
- More models with an internal slot for LTE
- More entry models with 1920x1080 displays (Sub $400)
- More mid range with IPS 1920x1080 and NVMe SSD (Sub $800)
- More models listing actual Watt Hour ratings of batteries
- AMD Navi and nVidia RTX 2000 series mobile GPU (demo/announcements)
- more 10Gb Ethernet
- Cheaper and more OLED
- narrowing the battery life gap between 4K and 1080p panels
- 4K webcam built in (just hopeful, it's ridiculous so many are still 720p when they can stuff a 4K camera in a cheap smartphone)

I would like from Lenovo to introduce 17" thinkpad, with 16:10 or even 3:2 aspect ratio, but with workstation specs.
But it's more likely Apple will fix the keyboard + bring back ports + remove gimmicky trackpad, then Lenovo actually doing something like that

Would really love to see a good Linux or - even better - FreeBSD Laptop. Not going to happen, I know. Just saying

That probably won’t happen because of the way it needs to counterbalance the heavier tablet display. To be honest that part never bothered me, but I can see why some folks would like to see it changed.

Maybe they can alter the design some and still achieve that counterbalance?

X1 Extreme Yoga with no noisy fan. No discrete GPU is fine with me.

It would be nice if they couldn’t do something to counterbalance, being able to have it close completely flat, making it that much thinner and compact would make it the ultimate 2 in 1

Still need to tone down the price on it though, a very similar spec XPS 15 is almost $1000 less in Canada

X1E means X1 Extreme with the Yoga's ability to flip the screen by 360 degrees to turn it into a tablet mode. Thus far, the X1E's screen can only be opened by 180 degrees. Based on my experience with the X1E's 4K 15.6" screen and the 14" WQD screen of the X1 Yoga, it makes a big difference in terms of producticity for me.

At the risk of going off topic, I’d like MS to fully modernise the windows 10 UX and get rid of its Win 7 (and sometimes earlier) underpinnings, both for desktop and touch.

Why? Two reasons.

Because then like MacBooks Windows pcs would feel like a much more harmonious combination of hardware and software - and give Apple more of a run for their money at the mid and top end.

And the MS would truly be able to let hardware manufacturers release laptop a that unleashed the potential of a combined Windows trackpad w/ touch & detachable tablet mode.

It’s always been the Windows software that has been holding this hardware vision back & it’s a product that would work so well at work and at home.

So you want a 15" laptop that has a display that can flip around, no discrete GPU and no fan noise? I don't think that's a reasonable expectation for a variety of reasons. Just my $.02

I want Windows laptops to start employing 1080p, 8GB RAM, and SSD as STANDARD on mid-range laptops. Seriously, people bashes the old Macbook Air, but there are too many 2018 Windows laptops that are still using 768p displays (on 14"+ screens) and spinning platters (because slow 1TB drive is easier to sell than smaller SSD).

It is ridiculous to see i7 laptops paired with 4GB RAM and 5400rpm drive. The PC OEMs just keep taking consumers as idiots.

Last year today Lenovo introduced some new laptops before the CES. I heard of rumors of lower end ones with new CPU and GPU but not higher end Thinkpads. Heard anything yet?
