Hmmm... And I'd thought maybe I'd been imagining it. Guess not. It's not excessive, but it's noticeable.
I am noticing a battery drain lately as well, but I’m on iOS 14.4.2, so I am no longer sure if it’s exclusive for iOS 14.7.1. Last night I went to bed with 57% and woke up 5 hours later with just 49%... went to bed again after peeing, and when I woke up again it was on 37%... which dropped quickly to 30% after checking the news on the morning for 20 minutes or so.

Sure, it could be my batterie’s age, my iPhone 8 is almost 3 years old, and it is at 83% of battery health. But this started to happen not too long ago.

That's a distinct possibility. I know when my my wife's iPhone 6S was up in the high 90% capacity and mine was approaching the 80% mark she had significantly better runtime than I.

I feel like something's coming sooner than later.. I've had maybe 25-30 app updates in the last 24 hours or so.

They're just messing with us at this point. Actually, if iOS 14 is going to continue to be updated concurrent to the release and ongoing maintenance of iOS 15, then it makes sense that we'd continue to see .x releases even after 15 debuts. And given some of the privacy issues with 15, I'm sure a lot of people will be sad 14.x isn't an option for the new phones.

IMHO there will be only 14.7.x (security) releases and no 14.8.
iOS 15 is around the corner now, so why make 14.8 release?

I run i(Pad)OS 14.7.1 on 2 iPhones and 2 iPads without any issue.

You’re incorrect about iOS 14.8, as it’s been evidenced in Xcode.

Every time I see more likely that iOS 14.8 will come out together with iOS 15, and then each user decides whether to continue receiving security updates and stay with iOS 14, or jump to the new version.

But how could people restore a device on iOS 14.8? Downloading the IPSW? Because I guess if you try to restore and make a clean install, it will download iOS 15

Ok, no new iOS 14.8, at this point I guess it will be released at the same time as iOS 15. After reading a lot of problems (most of them regarding connectivity) I’ve decided to wait on iOS 14.4.2

iOS 15.0 will be the week after next, released by Thursday, as new phones will be arriving that Friday. Next week will see 15.0 RC after the event.
