Well good news my friend C-band will be UW band.
I didn’t realize that Verizon had confirmed that. Did they? Link if you have one please.

I read an article from April 2021 that stated Verizon was “lumping” C-Band in with their working UW mm deployments, but didn’t realize they weren’t going to differentiate that on the phone itself.

Thanks for your responses!

Verizon C-Band is mmwave data. mmwave data is unlimited. There is no article stating it but I know Verizon employees and they confirmed with me that ALL mmwave data is unlimited.

At this point in time the majority of people will not see any difference between 5G and LTE
As Verizon , ATT, and T-Mobile add towers and spectrum there will be advantages to 5G. But we’re talking a couple years down the road not tomorrow.
Buy the phone for the features not for 5G

But if you're in an area with 5G service - I am - it is a huge difference.

I’m in an area with 5G service (including mmWave), and I would not call it a “huge difference.” I used to get faster LTE speeds than what I get most of the time on 5G now.

I live in a 5G area and travel for work in and out of 3g,4g areas, just dropped my 5g plan to 4g, not seeing any difference, and the rort here to pay extra for it is a joke.

I’m in NYC with T-Mobile 5G. The real world difference I see is downloading and updating apps is ridiculously fast.

Video are same 480p unless you pay extra. Loading websites makes no difference

Just got home from TMobile with a new iPhone 12, and ran SpeedTest via the cellular network. Holy Smokes!!! It downloads at over 400 mbps, and uploads at 24!!! That’s faster than most home internet services.

I know they’ve been hyping this forever, I just had no idea that we’d really see these speeds!

If you have an iPhone 12 or 13, please post your speed test results.

iPhone 11: 46.6 down, 5.91 up
iPhone 12: 203 down, 7.8 up (at home, with only two bars!)

I get 700Mbs on 5G here in Seattle (T-Mobile).

I think this is where the three carriers differ...while T-Mobile hasn't built out their n41 5G (aka "Ultra Capacity") everywhere, it's in a lot of places and I typically see 300-700Mbps download speeds regularly on my iPhone 12 mini. Plus, this is in a lot of areas that sometimes ran into congestion issues with T-Mobile LTE (prior to tower upgrades, it was a bit of LTE Band 71, 12, 2, and 66; maybe not enough backhaul and that was it). Instead of just small spots in downtown areas, the entire metro area where I live has 5G UC.

Regarding home internet, I actually picked up T-Mobile's Home Internet service and am getting similar 5G speeds (without much effort on placement, I'm getting about 500Mbps down, 45Mbps up), so I'd say having another choice for internet is definitely a byproduct of 5G beyond marketing hype. Obviously, location is a YMMV as there are folks who have tried it and it didn't work well for them.

I've been watching this space among all three carriers, as I have family and work accounts on all three. AT&T's LTE network had a lot of spectrum and capacity in a lot of places, so it's not uncommon to see 200-300Mbps in places and the 5G side of things is often n5, so it's an apples-to-oranges comparison. Verizon has some areas with great LTE service, but some of it has also gotten gnawed on by the congestion monster (and 5G DSS is comparable to LTE speeds in my area). I think when we see more midband on AT&T and Verizon, things will feel more comparable among the three (slower low-band, fast midband, really really fast mmWave).

Seriously, all those "5G" speeds aren't impressive at all considering this technology is here since a good 3, or even 4 years now? I have a 13 PM with a legacy plan, so only LTE and my speed are better than most of results I see here.

What comparable speeds are you seeing on LTE?
