They are pathetic losers for wanting benefits, better pay, and better working conditions? You’re defending a trillion dollar company who doesn’t care about you, or it’s employees.

I hope this is one of the most downvoted comments in MR history.
It doesn't matter if they are a trillion dollar company or a thousand dollar company. They are entitled to what the law says they are entitled to, and no one has accused Apple of breaking any laws here. If their current job is not providing what they want, they are welcome to go and try and find another one that does. Not whine and pout and stomp their feet like children and refusing to come into work for not getting what they want. it's pathetic.

Ive worked both union and non-union places over the years.
It sounds right that unionized workers would have to negotiate these benefits. After all, that is the point of the union.

As an aside, would these benefits even be offered if there were no unionized stores? It sounds like Apple is trying to pressure the union stores.

Apple's unionized workers are pathetic & brainwashed liberal Democrat socialists. The believe in all the fairy tales, such as unions. They literally do not understand a single thing about economics. They have no idea that unions do not serve them, and that unions actually HARM THEM.

Thankfully, PragerU has created a few videos on the harmful effects of unions:

It's Open Enrollment...this is a normal thing. The union members are just unhappy thinking they deserve said benefits that non-Union employees get, which is something they would have to negotiate for. They should be talking to their Union Rep who pressured them into this.

Been a while since I represented the trades but at least when I was doing this stuff the Union handled all this and the members couldn't just make demands outside of a contract.*

*Assuming I understand a slightly vague article.

It would be nice if the high-level Apple Executives can take a pay cut into their yearly salaries and frequent bonuses.

P.S. Jony Ive could have taken a pay cut from his salary but he didn't, SMH :(
Let’s put this into perspective. Jony and Tim were key ingredients to Apple going from near bankruptcy in 1997 to a 2 trillion dollar company in 2022. I hate to say it, but their is a huge value difference based on what they provide to the company. The company offers extensive opportunity via tuition programs that allow employees to attend college for free. Instead of whining and forming unions, maybe they should target tech opportunities within the company that provide higher pay because their job are responsible for producing more revenue or creating systems that touch the entire user base.

To me, both sides are just playing their cards for better position for the negotiation. Apple denying benefit so they can use that card during the negotiation. Union filing complaints, so Apple may more likely to give them the benefits too.

This wouldn't be an issue if Apple focuses on better pay & working condition across the board. What is up with the segregation?
It's a traditional colonialism tactic, divide and conquer, giving the illusion of better condition if you don't unionize (while in the long term, you would probably be losing more).

Apple's HR seems to be rotting on the inside.

Most people? Sounds to me like you live in a bubble. I was introduced to PragerU content from a friend of mine and I found their videos to be quite insightful, factual, and common sensical. I’ve only met a handful of people who think as you do, and these people either never saw a PragerU video or didn’t have any facts to debunk/debate their viewpoints seriously. They were just parroting what other people told them.
