128GB is fine for me for now but when I get a new phone whereas the pictures can be higher quality as well as the video, I'm not sure. Probably still would be fine though. A lot of the apps I have are games I don't really play so it should be able to work. Who knows though by the time I get a new phone they may be doing 256gb standard.
All of my photos and videos are stored in the iCloud storage, which is why I'm able to still comfortably use a 64gb model. 128gb should last a long time if you use iCloud.

Hmm, I dunno. iOS and apps are getting more bloated.

I have a 32GB iPad with barely anything on it. I couldn't update to the public beta since System+Other was taking ~20+GB space and it needed 10+GB free to install.

I feel like even 64GB would start feeling tight soon unless you barely have any apps installed. Even with Optimize enabled, I believe the iPhones in our household are using 40-50GB minimum and a good chunk of that is for system files.

I only have some social media and essential apps (bank, email, etc.) so I'm not having issues with the storage. I agree that iOS apps are getting more bloated and 64gb will eventually become just like the 32gb iPad today.

An app now usually takes up 100 mb on average. I remember it being way less than that when I first got my XR.

Wouldn't buy less than 256GB, personally. When I got phones for my parents I even made sure those had 128GB. I hate running out of space or having to help my folks

We have 64s and I’m at 61 after 2 years. But that’s only because I’ve been deleting stuff because I keep getting messages saying my storage is full. My daughter has had her phone for only a year and it’s full. Not sure about my wife’s.

I went on a trip for a week and had another 3 or 5 gigs free. I was in a museum towards the end of the trip and got the message saying my phone was full. Turns out I took 1,111 pictures and videos on the trip.

We definitely need bigger phones.

I'm a sucker for having storage...but I also don't upgrade every year (or even every other year). I have a 12.9" iPad Pro with 2 TB of storage and I just upgraded by iPhone to a 13 Pro Max with 1 TB. I got a $1000 credit toward the purchase of a new phone...so it ended up being a great deal.

I reckon the ideal sweet spot would be 160GB for most people.

Storage Tiers

Extra lite 64GB
Lite 128GB
Standard 160GB
Large 256GB
Large+ 512GB
Supersize 1TB
Supersize+ 4TB

C'mon Apple where's the 160GB ?

IPP 11 was the first time I went with Apple's base storage model. I found that I never had a problem keeping things in check with my 6S' 64GB so I thought "why pay more?".

Still have over 20GB left. All space-saving features enabled and I find that in my use case, this works great. Old apps gets uninstalled (and can easily be reacquired with a tap like if they were always there), photos are seamlessly downloaded from the cloud when I pinch to zoom. It's all fine. YMMV.
It's surprising how much space podcasts take up on my 64GB SE2. I'm constantly have to delete old episodes to make room. My phone next will definitely have to be at least 128GB.
I use Overcast as my podcast player and have it set to only keep one episode of each podcast on-device. I don't have the need of keeping a bunch of audio files on my device when it's always connected and those podcasts easily can be streamed on-demand like other media.

Personally I doubt I'd be able to get by with 64GB these days, but I am happy to use my 128GB iPhone as a Cloud device with only essential files onboard.
2TB iCloud and Unlimited Google Drive keeps me in sync on all my devices.

When I know I'm going to be flying or be travelling in an area with spotty coverage I will download a decent amount of music/podcasts to get me through… as well as Google Maps of areas I will be driving through.

I have 128gb and have never used more than 26gb on it. But I’m a minimalist. Only reason I got it is because it was offered on the Pro.

I really don’t mind having the extra if needed though 😃

64gb would probably be enough if i didn't download any music and optimized photo storage. Though it would still be close.
