@TimothyR734 you have a done a PRAM reset that set SIP enabled again and removed the "-no_compat_check" flag, so you should boot into any USB macOS Installer Patcher, open a Recovery Terminal and type:

Code:
nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check"
csrutil disable

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to download 10.15.2 and I get the installer version 15.1.02 it should be 15.2.xx and not 15.1.xx
I do not understand because the installer of 10.15.1 (19B88) is version 15.1.03 ???
Has anyone already installed 10.15.2 (19C57)? what is the installer version?

All good here. Using Catalina unpatched. If you have not got an upgraded wifi card then you will either lose wifi or have to apply the patch. How it looks/works probably a personal preference but I quite like it and it is now my main OS. Seems very stable. Startup a little snappier than Mojave but if you are into video work then you might like to stay with Mojave as the hacks to enable HEVC seem more stable with Mojave.

Thanks, I am into video work but I only use probes so no probs with HEVC, well yet.

As I wrote, I could install Catalina on my Mac Pro with GTX 660 and I am happy. But I have plenty hard disks and I find very interesting to do more tests, just for fun...

With the old original Radeon HD 2600 XT, should I set or not the "Legacy video card" flag? In my tests I would say yes, but in this way it seems that the graphic acceleration is disabled. But without the patch I have some trouble on some text field: the pass of the mouse clobber slightly the display (titles of Safari tabs).

Thanks.

I downloaded the full installer from "System Preferences - Software Update" the version is 15.2.02
if all you need its the updater 10.15.2 here's the link: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2025?locale=en_US

Did you ever find an answer to this? I just installed that patch on my mac 2009 and it seems to be working fine. I just can't boot into safe mode. Do I hold the shift key as soon as I start the mac or after the patch finishes running? Does it make a difference?

Dov
Sorry to late response. But I didn't find any solution for that. ?

Note: I saw the @jackluke release a bunch of solutions for this problem on post #7218. Thanks to him ?

First, "15.2.02" seems to be incorrect numbering. There is no Mac OS "15.x". It is "10.x".

Secondly, yes, that link would be fine. But I want the full OS 10.15.2 installer.

It is just so frustrating that Apple is making this so, so difficult! And now there is this "confusion":

http://osxdaily.com/2019/12/10/macos-catalina-10-15-2-update-download/

Note where it says "MacOS Catalina 10.15.2 update is only available for a Mac that is actively running a prior version of MacOS Catalina. If you’re running macOS Mojave 10.14.6 or MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6, instead you will find a Security Update to download.". Wow! As if we did not already know that to download the OS 10.15.2 updater, one must be running OS 10.15.1.

What about the full installer?

The Patcher should be able to download 10.15.2, but may not be able to successfully create an installer. I will be releasing a new version of the Patcher in a few hours.
That would be appreciated. But wonder why it built an OS 10.15.1.02 installer?

Just tried it again, but the version of the installer it builds still says 15.1.02. For the OS 10.15.1 Full Installer created by your "patcher", it says 15.1.03. Seems like going backwards!

jackluke you might want to modify your script it says to enforce compatibility check it should say to enforce no compatibility check
[automerge]1576030797[/automerge]
on my mid 2009 iMac with Catalina Patcher downloaded 15.2.02 on my mid 2009 MacBook with Mojave installed downloaded 19B2106 10.15.1 so it might be a bit before a new patcher is released as I am sure dosdude is working on it :)

Yes, there is a small issue with downloading 10.15.2 in the current Catalina Patcher version. The new release will fix this, and will be released in about an hour from now.

I ran the second file i saw around called catalina swuodate fix and that ran normally, i tried the install button again and same thing. Rebooted apple with progress bar and then rebooted back i to 10.15.1

I've been working on the remaining acceleration issues on non-Metal systems (bad performance in some websites, lack of video decoding acceleration). I think I've made some slight progress, though I'm not entirely sure what to make of it.

This tool VDADecoderChecker reports the status of video decoding acceleration. On a supported Mac (or unsupported Mac running ≤ Mojave), it reports the following:
View attachment 881779

On unsupported Mac with Catalina (or at least on my MacBook7,1 with nVidia Tesla) it shows:
View attachment 881780

However, by copying this file from High Sierra (or, I assume, Mojave -- will test and update but I had only a 10.13 system readily available at the time):
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleVADriver.bundle/Contents/MacOS/AVA_HD_VP3.dylib

I am now getting the success message. Performance on websites like slither.io is still awful, though, compared to on Mojave. As for video playback, I never had any particular issues in the first place. So this may be meaningless or just one piece of the puzzle.

Any ideas?

As always, I'll report back if I find anything else... :)

Edit: I am also able to watch an episode on TV app, but it's very finicky. Edit 2: that's actually also the case without this patch. So, I'm pretty sure this does next to nothing other than making one specific command line tool happy...

I tried using this and it does not work. keep getting permission denied and I am root in my system. Does a .ccp file run in terminal ?

Catalina Patcher version 1.3.0 has now been released, which adds full support for downloading and patching Catalina version 10.15.2. I've also added a new feature that informs users of High Sierra supported systems if their system's BootROM is out of date, preventing the issue where a user may be using a BootROM version that doesn't support APFS. Enjoy!
