Tks @dosdude1 you are indeed fast. 👍 :)
So I use this patch 1.3.0 to download 10.15.2 and install over my existing 10.15.1 catalina choosing option "install on this drive" right.
My only apprehension is getting to install airdrop, continuity cmd and copy paste patches all over again post install 10.15.2 on my MBA. Hope these patches can be added to your latest patch 1.3.0

Catalina Patcher version 1.3.0 has now been released, which adds full support for downloading and patching Catalina version 10.15.2. I've also added a new feature that informs users of High Sierra supported systems if their system's BootROM is out of date, preventing the issue where a user may be using a BootROM version that doesn't support APFS. Enjoy!
Still have problems! I did follow the link to the new patcher, but when I downloaded it, it STILL says the version is 15.1.02. From what was stated above by jhowarth via post #7,264:

"The 10.15.2 full installer should show a version number of 15.2.02."

Well, it does not. What gives?

Has ANYONE been able to use the new version of the patcher, and obtain the full installer for OS 10.15.2?

Did you actually try it? I am STILL having issues.

Actually, when I click on the link in your post, which takes me to the site, it says the version is 1.2.3, not 1.3.

Your web cache is out of date. Refresh the page and it'll update, giving you the link for 1.3.0.

Hello all,

I have Mac mini 3.1 running Catalina. My ram is 8GB and ssd. I am facing performance issues with that version of Mac os. I applied the possible hack to speed it up including CleanMyMac software.

Do you think the performance will improve with next Catalina updates?

Which is the best earlier version for my hardware?

Thanks

@boyan You should check the requirements of the OS at apple site. Most probably with 8gb ram it should work okay as minimum requirement for Catalina is 4gb ram. I have same running on my MBA with 4gb ram and it works just fine. Updates do bring about improvement and if they are security updates it should be installed. If you still face issue with performance I suggest you move down to Mojave.

And the answer is : SIP. Execute Dosdude1's patcher to create a clean USB installer, invoke Recovery OS, Terminal 'csrutil disable', restart with USB installer in place as startup drive, and after a while one has Catalina.

my imac has no recovery os any other solution?? 2011 imac

@dosdude1 can you make in your patcher sib enable or an option to disable it on catalina, here is only re-install patch i hope you can understand me :)... After then i can install this patch on catalina and the usb install can working

Try to download the Catalina latest OS 10.15.2 from apps store on your disk. Then use the dosdude1 patcher to patch the OS and install accordingly.

Hi Dosdude1. Thanks for quick update to version 1.3.0. However, after downloading Catalina version 10.15.2 find that I cannot create the USB Installer. I am getting the following error....Please advise how to fix as I am using a 32GB USB drive. Screen Shot 2019-12-11 at 6.55.21 pm.png Screen Shot 2019-12-11 at 6.55.39 pm.png

@Gunner12 Hope you formatted your usb min (16Gb) to Mac Journaled before using the patch.

Hi Dilli. Yes, it is the USB drive I've been using all along which was used to install 10.15.1 as well. I did another format to check, but still get this error. Only thing different this time is I used a Mac now running Catalina 10.15.1. (previously used the Mac running High Sierra & this worked without error). Could be Catalina 10.15.1 does not allow creation of USB Installer??

Can someone please summarize how I can update my machine (MBP Mid 2009)? Can I just update via the native MacOS update system? Or do I have to install a new version of the patch updater? Do I have to completely download the current version and install it over the version I'm having right now? Thanks in advance!

Yes you have to follow all steps like you did initially and install using usb installer with latest 10.15.2 over existing 10 15.1

So, from what I read, I need to boot from the USB installer to in stall 10.15.2 over 10.15.1. Is installing over 10.5.1 just by starting the patched installer while in in 10.15.1 without rebooting from the USB stick? Doing the latter means getting the rx 580 out, putting the gt 120 in, starting from the usb installer, installing, then getting the gt 120 out and putting the 580 back in. Please not again! Thank for having the patience to read this...

@eVasilis you don't have to do anything with your graphics card. Just make a new bootable installer with cat 10.15.2 using dosdudes1 new patch 1.3.0. Restart your machine using option key with the usb bootable installer attached and select your previous 10.15.1 disk. Thats it. It will install over previous version.

Perhaps you know the procedure when you initially installed Catalina with your new graphics card installed and what steps to follow.

Smooth first installation with Catalina patcher 1.3.0, 10.15.2 on iMac 10,1.

Internal HDD formatted with 2 partitions (HFS for High Sierra, APFS for Catalina) Ran patcher from High Sierra and used "install to this machine" option and directed the installation on the APFS partition.

Totally slick installation process.

Thanks for your reply. I only installed Catalina for the first time yesterday, updating from high Sierra. I did a clean install using a gt 120 so as to have boot screen (the 580 is only a regular PC Card, no boot screens) and monitor the process. The idea of getting gpus in/out again is daunting. Thanks again for the reply; it has put my mind at ease!

I guess this inquiry is about the invisible Boot screen due to a Non-Mac Video Boot ROM of his RX580. A card with Mac Video Boot Rom would indeed help to be able to choose the different Boot drive from the Boot menu. :) I also change my RX480 back to the original ATI card delivered with my MP3,1 when updating the OS.

@eVasilis Would be nice if you could add your hardware config to your signature. This way it's easier to understand your whole situation.

Precisely. It is fortunate that you have an ATI card as it can play nicely with your 480. In my case the gt120 and the 580 do not pay well together, hence the hassle.
Thanks!
