• You can now set animated wallpapers as screensavers.

• Excessive heating
• Safari may have weird visual glitches when browsing the web at certain times
• Messages have a chance to not send messages
• Clicking the Lock Screen multiple times can cause the Lock Screen to crash, ultimately logging you out of your Mac.

• QuickTime Player does not record the first couple of seconds when you use a Microphone (FB10086556)
  • Workaround: Wait around 5 seconds after seeing the yellow indicator in the Menu Bar, or use a different app for your recording needs
  • Issue present since macOS 10.13
• Alarms may not play when your display is asleep for a long period of time (FB10086690)
  • Workaround: Make your display not fall asleep in Settings > Lock Screen > Turn display off on ____ when inactive. You can turn your brightness off.
  • Issue present since macOS 13.0

Additional Notes

• Please know, Memory Management has always been an issue on any OS (not just Apple's). If you believe there is a Memory Leak, please go to the Apple Menu > Restart > Restart to fix it.
• When a new macOS release comes out, all issues automatically go to "Untested Issues" until they are moved by someone. Issues that stay in Untested for 3 releases (beta or smooth) will be removed from all future threads. When there is a new macOS release, please be sure to let us know about the issue's status by moving it to either "Remaining Issues" or "Resolved Issues"
• macOS 14 Sonoma will be installed via a Delta Update in System Settings. Please be aware about this and the update won’t install with an installer.
• macOS 14 is officially supported on the following devices. If your device is not listed below, it has unfortunately been dropped by Apple. Any efforts of trying to get your Mac running macOS 14, including bugs should be discussed in this thread.

Tailscale seems broken. The menu bar applet appears, but then you can’t interact with it. Have to force quit via activity monitor.

Animations when expanding into and swapping between full screen apps seems better than last Beta.

My system feels a little faster than Beta 1, but that could be me.

Safari in fullscreen mode still occasionally does this thing where I can't click anything, like the website has lost foreground focus. Continuing to use Reddit on Safari in windowed mode as a result.

Adobe Lightroom Classic seems borked after today's update (it was working just fine before).

At first, it was impossible to switch between folders to view photos, now any attempt to access the catalog causes an application crash, even after deleting and creating a new catalog, and uninstalling / reinstalling Lightroom.

The Classic Clock for Mac screensavers has been replaced by the new Sonoma lock screen time and date.

Beta 2 updated the Studio Display again without waiting for a prompt. It hung on the dreaded suppport.apple.com/display/restore
This worked in the end:
- Plug in HDMI to control
- Unplug all peripherals from the Studio Display
- Unplug power of the display and wait 15 sec
- Plug back in and wait.

The restore and update completed and all was fine.
Looks buggy as hell since V1!!!!

New Mac Studio Display FW is Version 16.4 (Build 20E246)
Interesting in that it is tracking iPadOS release software and not the next gen beta.

I noticed the animation in to full screen is much better. The window doesn’t disappear for a second anymore.

It does not want to restore desktop from iCloud.

Booting in Safe mode triggered the files to be pulled down, booted back in normal mode and all looked good.

A few boots later, and desktop is empty again. This time, boot into Safe mode did not help.


I see fileproviderd being very CPU active, 75-130% - more or less constant.

Safari locked up for me on opening a work window. Fixed by deleting ~/Library/Safari

Do you have LittleSnitch or other firewall installed? Some users reported no internet and had to uninstall/re-install their firewall.

FWIW, I’m on an M1 MBP, and read the same about Little Snitch (and Little Snitch Micro), so I just stopped them from opening at launch, and then confirmed they wouldn’t run at all, and the upgraded to Sonoma from Ventura. I had no issues at that point, and then tried enabling both Little Snitch and Micro on Sonoma b1, and had no issues with either app preventing me from getting online or SMB shares, or anything. Continues to be fine on Sonoma b2.

It gets hard to troubleshoot when one person has an issue and another doesn’t.

When you say you’re unable to get online, is that just within a browser or in general like not being able to browse a network in Finder? I would suggest checking for any VPN apps or any kind of Safari or browser extension installed. Maybe even just check for updates and make sure everything is up to date?

I had rest cyber security pro, I’ve just uninstalled it but still no luck.

I can browse to one other network destination in finder but not all.
