Details discussed during a recent earnings conference call by Apple supplier TPK Holdings suggest the production of the iWatch is behind schedule, reports UDN via GforGames. According to earlier rumors, the iWatch may debut in late 2014 with the latest report claiming it will launch alongside the 5.5-inch iPhone 6.

Based on reports from Asian sources, TPK executives spent a portion of the company's Q3 2014 earning conference call explaining why it sees poorer than expected financial projections for the current quarter. TPK is allegedly supplying Apple with flexible displays that use silver nanowire touch screen technology for inclusion in the iWatch wearable.

Though the iWatch was not mentioned in the call, pundits believe TPK's shortfall is the result of a slip in the production schedule for the iWatch, which had been expected to be in production and contributing to TPK's bottom line during the third quarter. Now, the company is projecting an increase in profits during Q4 2014, suggesting the iWatch rollout may be slated for closer to the end of this year.

Shares of TPK stock dropped significantly late last week on the outlook.
At an investor conference Thursday, TPK forecast flat quarterly growth, or at best a 5 percent sequential increase, of its consolidated sales for the third quarter, citing decisions by its customers to postpone the launch of their new products. [...]

Sales growth, however, could pick up in September, TPK said, forecasting a break-even operating margin in the third quarter on higher operating costs.
This late start in production may result in Apple shipping fewer iWatch units than expected in 2014, claims analysts at CSLA, a leading Asian investment banking and asset management firm. Instead of shipping 20 million iWatch units by the end of the year, Apple may only be able to deliver a significantly smaller 6 million units. It is unknown if this lowered estimate will translate into a shortage of the device at launch.

After analyzing the situation thoroughly, I predict that Apple will do whatever it wants to do in secret.

Pundits generally believe whatever will make headlines containing the word "Apple". It's even better if they can say it's bad news for Apple.

Its amazing how every Apple product has production issues. Yet to this most if if not all were still introduced as scheduled in large quantities.

I am very disappointed Apple will be late in releasing something hasn't been announced and may not ever exist.

Next we'll probably learn Apple's new line of printers are also behind schedule.

I'm looking forward to a release, whenever it may be.
lets hope it doesn't go the way of the Apple TV rumors that did/do the rounds each year.

;)

If accurate, the answer is pretty clearly yes. Especially since they should be coming out near the holidays.

Production issues left & right, if all of these rumours were true it would seem like Apple doesn't have a single clue on how to mass produce and flawlessly ship any product.

TPK, a company rumored to exist and rumored to work with rumored US tech company Apple, is alleged to be mentioned--in supposed blog GforGames, according to hints suggested by another possibly-existing web site UDN--as being a rumored supplier for a rumored-to-exist iWatch product (not depicted in these speculative concept images) or some other possible product, whose rumored schedule is rumored to have slipped due to rumored issues with hypothetical flexible displays rumored to use a rumored new touch technology which is speculated to have problems that Apple is rumored to be surprised by, as apparently reported by sources familiar with the potentially real web site MacRumors.

This article is titles and prodominantly written missleadinly. It even says that at no point was the iWatch even mentioned and the screen productions themselves are only rumour.

Just because an person calls themself an analyst and makes a statement does not constitute a report nor a fact.

The article says the iWatch will have a flexible display. So why does it show us a non-flexible display mockup? MR, get with the rumors!

OH, forget what I said. The watch does say "BPM is your pulse." so that clears that up. Move on.

I'm sure Apple will announce the iWatch late December, not being available until Jan./Feb. 2015, just so they can fit it into their amazing 2014 product pipeline

way to talk it up and meet you deadlines...oh Apple :(

but don't worry, I'll still buy it

Seriously, why do these people exist? How and why are these 'business analysts' hired in the first place? They must provide intricate value to some, right? It's always the same with these guys.

A lot of people who come to this rumour focused site seem to get pretty annoyed when rumours are posted...

I think production issues are what analysts like to report about the most. Because if the product doesn't even come out they can say "They ran into production issues so they didn't announce the unannounced rumor product."

Tim Cook and others from apple have been on record saying 2014 will be the best year for apple. So far we have seen small spec bumps in most products this year. Releasing stuff in December can be technically still be part of 2014.

Let me get this straight...an unannounced product with an unannounced release date is rumored to now be delayed. Hmmm. Nice analysis. Apple just laughs at you. All these boneheads are trying to do is manipulate the stock market up or down for their hedge fund buddies. It's all a big game.
