I placed an order today for I5 mini with 1tb nvme 2 ssd and 8gb ram.

I got a veteran discount and a CC promo. This is the first new mini I have purchased in 6 years. It is due on April 29th.

I will play with it and decided if I want to add ram to it. It will cost me just over $1050 with all promos and discounts.

Wow. That is a great price.

Yeah 10% off with veteran discount. So it drops from 1099 to 989 I got 1tb storage so it is 1169 add tax it is 1250

the new cc is 200 off if you spend 1000+ so the 1250 = 1050. 1 year to pay 0%

No deals this is 1299 + 91 tax = 1390 so I saved 340.

My mini now is a 2014 i5 with 8gb ram has the iris graphics

The new one will have the:

intel 630 graphics vs iris graphics >>> big improvement
1 tb internal ssd vs external 2tb ssd > faster then external but ½ the size maybe a push for me
8gb 2600 ram vs 8gb 1600 ram >>>> big improvement
6 i5 8500b core vs 2 i5 4308 core >>>>>>>>>>>>> huge improvement

and If I want to in a year or two I can bump ram to 16 or 32gb

My late 2012 i7 quad/16gb/512 SSD still runs great, but it's almost 8 years old. Running Mojave beautifully and won't upgrade to Catalina because of some 32-bit apps.

Wanted to give Mojave some legs so I just ordered a refry from the batch that showed up yesterday:
i7/32GB/1TB SSD. Would have preferred to buy that configuration with 8GB RAM and install 16 or 32 GB myself but there were very few 1TB SSD configurations to choose among.

Expect it will come out of the box with Catalina so I'm prepared to retrograde to Mojave. Can't really imagine I'm going to notice much difference for what I do, but it will be nice to know I can use Mojave for the foreseeable future, at least as long as there isn't some serious security issue that Apple doesn't/can't patch.

I am waiting on a custom i7/32GB/512 SSD coming over from China. Apple built the machine within 3 days of the order being placed, however it has now sat in Hong Kong for two days with TNT without moving and at a guess the virus must be interfering with progress.

Sorry to read this.. my I5 was ordered on April 19 shipped from china and got here April 23. I almost fully moved all my passwords and files to it from my 2014.

Mine was ordered on the 18th and been sat in Hong Kong since the 22nd without an update. TNT are giving me no information at all.

I've also ordered the same configuration, to be delivered 1st of May. I'm a bit of a noob, how do you track the location like in your screenshot?
You should’ve got your tracking number in your email with dispatch notification. Or check in “Apple store” app on your iPhone.

Just ordered the 2020 Mac mini i5 base with 8GB RAM & 512GB SSD from Amazon this morning for $1049. Then also grabbed a Crucial 32GB RAM kit for $123 and added the Applecare. Suppose to be here in 1-2 days prime shipping. The computer is 1 day, but the RAM is 2 days for some reason.
Will replace my 2018 i3 base model that I'm giving to my grandma to replace her 2014 model with 4GB RAM that literally throws a memory warning up just for going onto Facebook. She loves her Facebook games though...
And yes I do know the 2020 & 2018 models are the same, but it was more or less to future proof myself more while also helping my grandma get something better...

I recently purchased a late 2018 Mac Mini, with the same specs as yours, except it has a 256 gig SSD. It works very, very well, is super responsive, and a pleasure to use. The 256 gig SSD is plenty for my needs, especially considering I have 1500 gig of external SSD space.

You will really like the machine, and you will definitely notice the increase in speed due to the processor upgrade. I actually was a little concerned with the i5, as I had a reliable late 2012 model with a core i7 processor and 256 gig SSD, but I was definitely mistaken! The 2018 model is plenty fast!

TNT are now part of Fedex. Their phone operator told me the computer is now in Qatar, but I am hopeful it will turn up someday.

Looks like I'm back on the Mac train. Used a Mac for years then switched to using a Hackintosh. I finally got tired of dealing with the headaches of keeping it running and went to Windows 10. After suffering through that for a few years I finally bit the bullet and bought a 2020 3.6 GHz quad core Mac Mini with the 256GB SSD. Upgraded it to 16 GB of RAM, which was not hard at all. So far it feels good to be back on the Mac train again.

get the i5
the 512gb is a big deal as you can not up grade it.
the ram at 8gb should be okay as it pages out to a very fast internal ssd.

I got the i5 with a 1tb ssd and 8gb ram about 10 days ago so far so good.
I will have lots of space and if I chose to do ram in the future I can go to 32gb

Yes, the i5 is definitely better. Myself, the 2018 model I recently purchased with a 256 gig SSD and 8 gig of Ram runs real well. I tend not to store much "stuff" on the machine itself, especially given that I have over 1500 gig of external SSD space (3 external Samsung SSDs). Hence, 256 gig is enough for me. But I understand why some folks would want 512 gig of space.

Finally arrived about a week late and it's the wrong computer. After all that waiting they sent me an 8 gig machine, when it should have been 32 gigs, so this one is going back tomorrow and we are starting from scratch. The replacement is coming over by standard delivery so that will no doubt take another 3 weeks. Really not impressed.

Darn! Sorry to hear that. One would think that Apple is not really that busy, and that they can get an order like yours correct.
