Have ordered a 16" 8-core i9, 64GB RAM (yikes), 5500M 8GB and 1TB storage, obviously BTO. That was two weeks ago, and they estimated that I'd be waiting for a total of 6. But who knows how long it will be really :(

Going to use it for Adobe After Effects and DaVinci Resolve mostly :) And maybe fire up the WoW client from time to time ;) It always ran awfully on my 2015 MBP with intel IGP.

We've ordered another base-model 16" MBP for one of the team to replace a 15" machine. Most of their work is done at a variety of client sites and while they have access to an iMac at their home base, the larger screen is invaluable given the laptop is their primary machine.

If you have the money to spend you may as well but I personally went with the 5500m 4GB and I think I will be covered. I plan on doing video more seriously but am not confident enough where I could rationalize the 8GB upgrade.
Maybe that would be enough for me as well but i would like to keep this new mac for several years...Besides the extra 120€ is there any disadvantage on upgrading to the 8gb?

It is rare to be happy to see a large transaction on your credit card, but my MacBook Pro just got charged, so ?. It is now being prepared for shipment. Delivery date is still March 26, so ?.

I ordered the following beauty this past Saturday to replace my late 2012 iMac. I am now obsessively checking the order status (I already know it’s ridiculous to do so, but hey, I feel like a kid in the lead up to Christmas).

16-inch MacBook Pro - Space Grey

2.4GHz 8-core 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz
64GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 memory
2TB SSD storage

I had ordered February 18th with an estimated delivery date of March 19th. I got a notification earlier this week it was preparing to ship and now it looks like I'll getting it on March 9th. So maybe you'll get yours a little early too?

Going to try it out. Not sure if the 16" is going to be too big but I need to replace my 9 year old iMac.

For anyone worried about long delivery dates for BTO 16” MBP’s, I ordered mine (UK) on 19th Feb with a delivery estimate of 4 weeks (18th March).

Today (3rd March) UPS delivered my computer so basically only two weeks which is pretty normal for BTO orders.

I ordered a 16 inch base model on Monday from B&H and received it yesterday. All good so far. I was thinking about waiting for the new 14 inch, but I was having issues with my current Mac and decided to pull the trigger on the 16.

Just picked up the base 16" model to replace my 2015 13". I was going to wait for the rumoured 14" refresh, but the back to uni sale finishes on the weekend here in Australia and I couldn't pass up the $460AU discount on the MacBook Pro and the free Studio Beats. The last time I had a 15" model was the 2013 model, so the 16" feels quite big at the moment. I am hoping get used to it soon! Price was $3339 for the base 16" MacBook Pro in Australia (university pricing).

Update: I've decided the 16" is too big for my needs. I'll arrange to return it and go back to my 2015 13" for now.

Just got my 2nd machine today. 16" i9 2.3, 32GB, 5500 8GB, 1TB manufactured on March 3rd 2020. It has noticeable coil whine... AGAIN. Luckily no panics this time while running geekbech. I'm going to stress it and see if the whine goes away or if I can live with it, otherwise I'm returning it again and going back to my late-2015 MacBook Air

I just wanted to chime in here after having my computer for a week. Got the 16", i7, 32 gb ram, 512HD, standard graphics card. This thing is a BEAST. What an upgrade from my 2016 13". The new screen real estate is amazing too. Very happy with my purchase and Apple gave me a solid trade-in value.

After griping for a LONG time about needing a > 16GB option and a physical escape key before Apple had a system I would replace my 2015 MBP15 with - looks like they checked the boxes on the MBP16. Am traveling much more (excpet now with COVID-19) in general for work, so am waiting to see the MBP 13/14 refresh and if it offers 32GB, updated scissor keyboard and a physical ESC key, I'm in for one - finally...or a 16" variant.

Is this unusual?: my 16” BTO has been on preparing to ship for 2 days with no change, i now checked my bank account and The locked amount of $ for the Mac has been return to my account, the payment is no longer on hold and also I wasn’t charge, any idea what this means?

It finally arrived today! It was bought on March 17 through my employer who bought through a third party (official reseller) so that adds time I think. It's very nice so far but I've yet to put it through its paces.

TL;DR Two MBPs for ~cost of one I bought 4 years ago.

Traded my 2016 15” MBP 2.7GHz 4-core i7 with a $475 repair (Apple replaced swollen battery/bad key under KB warranty) for a $910 Apple GC; $2799 retail.

Then, picked up a new 2019 13” MBP 1.4GHz 4-core i5, 8GB RAM, Iris 645, and 256GB HD for $1299 so my kid can “telework“; $1499 retail.

Next, ordered myself an Apple refurbished 16” MBP 2.4GHz 8-core i9, 32GB RAM, 5500M 8GB GPU, and 2TB HD for $2978 after discounts; $3899 retail.

Thus, I ended up incurring a net cost of ~$2892 for a new 13” MBP and replacement 16” MBP that’s larger; faster; double the cores; double the RAM; and quadruple the storage of the 15” for approximately the same price I paid for it.
