UPDATE: The adapter just arrived... setup was a snap... now, the question will be whether it continues to work beyond a week or two... #fingerscrossed #hopeful
Don't want to jinx it... but 3 weeks in and, well "you know", even on iOS 17 B5... wondering about firmware updates though... don't see any option for that.

Waze is ok, compared to a radar detector. Cops also use Waze, easy to fool speeders.
1. Why would the maps load every street speed limit, for millions of users unless it is needed as part of a route. The Apple/Google servers will crash if they download huge amounts of data for every street. It may work for offline maps, if the data is downloaded.
Here in Russia Yandex Maps know every (almost) every speed limit and they work with carplay
