a quick Google search is suggesting Low is his best album, looks like he's done quite a few. Could you recommend any?
Actually, I have a double album of his greatest hits, and then, his last two albums.

To be quite candid, re David Bowie's actual albums, when I borrowed them from friends and class mates when I was a student, I found that while I loved some tracks, I didn't much care for others, hence, I decided not to purchase the individual albums, although my brother did buy a couple.

So thanks for the recommendations on Bowie, I decided to go with Diamond Dogs and The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy..etc

I can totally see the appeal of a compilation album, but kinda fancied having original albums in total. Currently listening to Diamond Dogs. This is fun! Might get a compilation album later to supplement it.

So without wanting to suggest I'm more knowledgeable than I am. I discovered a very interesting internet radio station a few years back, NTS. How these people discover their music, where they buy it, is beyond me. I am a mere mortal. But if you have an open mind, and really want to hear some interesting music, I would suggest you at least give it a go!

Jacob Collier's version of Bridge Over Troubled Water, with 3 guest vocalists, blew my socks off. I picked up his latest CD with that track, and have had it in my car the last couple weeks.

I'm a bit... disappointed. The dizzying mix of musical styles thrown at you just doesn't let it hang together as an album, to me. Kid is an absolute monster, talent-wise, but this thing as a whole is just confusing.
Bridge, itself, is a fascinating amount of craft in the backing vox (all by Jacob), but all three lead vox are overly "gymnastic", as in the Maria/Michael Bolton/later Stevie Wonder style. It's great that your vocal control allows 32nd-note melismas in perfect pitch, but when musical taste flies out the window in the name of "look what I can do!", I no longer see the point.

Think I need to cue up some Poco for the rest of the evening,

I have always had a thing for organ music, especially theater organ. I went to a Radio City Music Hall Christmas performance as a kid. Don't remember anything about the performance but I do remember that organ. The lower notes you couldn't hear, you felt it as your chest vibrated. Love the acoustics of Cathedral organs, but only for that music which moves me. One performance in particular I remember was at Christ Church Oxford when a student performed their graduation recital. Luckily our local theater has performances before and after most movies.

I have been going through Camille Saint-Saëns organ symphony versions on Youtube. There are 3 things that I look for in a performance:

1. That the piano riff is not in the background
2. That the organ is primary when it is playing
3. That there is deep bass particularly at the end of the finale.

I have 2 top candidates right now.

1. Saint-Saëns - Symphony No 3 in C minor, Op 78 - Järvi

BBC Proms. Piano and organ are prominent. Bass good but maybe not as good as next version.

2. Saint-Saens: Symphony No. 3 "Organ" - Finale (Auckland Symphony Orchestra) 1080p

I special ordered #2 from Australia to get the full fidelity CD. Unfortunately I have not been able to find a CD or other recording of #1.

These are best played via speakers with a subwoofer or good headphones.

Nothing wrong with a good "comp" LP. Especially when you only want to hear the "hits". ;)

I agree though, hearing an original LP is the way to go...

"hheeerreee we are.."
Well dang. Maurice doesn't even do his beautiful high parts at all in this version...

The Tale of Brave Sir Robin - from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin!
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken,
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin!
His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off
And his pen— (made to stop by Robin)

🤣

Still brilliant.

Still hilarious.

Still timeless.

The wonderful combination of medieval chords and those hysterically funny lyrics never fail of leave me in stitches of helpless laughter.

And then, this was followed by that fantastic coda:

Brave Sir Robin ran away,
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about,
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin.
