Couldn’t there be two Core titles?LOL, yeah, we can replace that with Core
It could be anything the admins choose. I just threw together a quick and dirty list of what it could be, its not official, just one member's thought on how it possibly could lookCouldn’t there be two Core titles?
Even thou you are Emeritus, wouldn’t they consult you?It could be anything the admins choose. I just threw together a quick and dirty list of what it could be, its not official, just one member's thought on how it possibly could look

Oh, I thought Emeritus status conferred some type of status on the backend, without the responsibility.I'm no longer active as a moderator and such I have no dealings and I do not have access to area where such conversations occur.
No, its title we can have (if we so choose) after we resign/retire as a moderator. I have no more authority, or abilities then any other member of MacRumors.Oh, I thought Emeritus status conferred some type of status on the backend, without the responsibility.
You propose reducing 15 years of Intel chips to two user titles, and replacing them with 2 years of Apple silicon as eight user titles? Seems lopsided to me.I'm not suggesting adding the M series at the end but reworking them
I took the list from the OP, and just cut some stuff out, to make room for the M series processors. My thinking is that 68xxxx series processors, power pc, have more meaning, as do the ARM based processors. Having a couple of Intel processors just so they're represented but move quickly on to the ARM side of things
Just my suggestion, as a member, but I thought it might be nice to reduce the intel processors and instead highlight Apple's M series in its place.

Ok, its just a quick and dirty what if thought game that's all.Seems lopsided to me.
Of course. No problem.Ok, its just a quick and dirty what if thought game that's all.
My logic is that the many members will have less affinity towards a Penryn title, but ARM based ones makes more sense.
Its just a simple suggestion by a member, so don't really read too much into it.
I could get behind squeezing all of the titles.
This makes some sense to me. Although, like maflynn, I think you're consolidating the Intel era too much compared to the Apple silicon era. 15 years of Intel vs. 2 years of Apple silicon. We can consolidate the 6k into Mac 6k. 65xxx becomes Mac 65k. The 68xxx can be combined into Mac 68k. Same with 601, 603, and 604. Take them into Mac 600.
Get rid of Pentium and P6, because they were only in the transitional kits. Combine the Xeon names into Xeon. Add M1 and M2 titles. Leave the rest alone. So the end result is:

For me, the Intel portion should be separated into Core, Core 2, the the major "Tock" cycle cores and finally until we reach the M1 and M2.True, intel names are a bit drab. Could easily just have them as Core, Core2Duo, Core2Quad and then i3,i5,i7,i9. Possibly even just pick out some model numbers from them (4278U) for example
That’ll be a big “heck no” from me being an intel chip.True, intel names are a bit drab. Could easily just have them as Core, Core2Duo, Core2Quad and then i3,i5,i7,i9. Possibly even just pick out some model numbers from them (4278U) for example
Been there done that. All I want in life is to be G4.
Silver door, “ka-chunk” side panel handle opening, glorious innards, Powermac G4.
What about ranks for iPod users?I think there should be ranks for iPad users and iPhone users.
Exactly. Isn’t the site called Macrumors? What about ranks for iPod users?
Is it? What’s wrong with what we have?Time for a reset.
There have been so many processors now that a new User naming scheme is warranted.
The User Names are Ok, I just think the number of posts needs to change for User Titles, new processors can be added to the higher post counts. Is it? What’s wrong with what we have?
