What is the current firmware for the 3rd generation siri remote? Apple tv Model number: A2737

Is it possible to replace the battery without breaking anything? Or is it glued (?) shut forever? If so, how about recycling the battery? I've had this remote for almost six years, so no wonder the original battery is worse for wear by now. Still, the remote works fine.
