Figured I'd get a third opinion here as well.

I've sent these pictures to a lot of people and most of them said go 44m (the 40mm looks too small while the 44mm looks too big so they said go big)

Pictures attached (first one is 40mm rest are 44m)
I think this is correct. 40mm too small and 44mm is a little big.
But as a male I would take the „tad too big“ watch, before I would buy a „looks very small“ watch.

I'm a petite female and just got my 40mm yesterday. But am tempted to return it and get 44mm instead because it's got better battery life & I do find 40mm screen a bit too small especially when checking emails. What do you guys think? Do you think 44mm would be too big & look ridiculous on my super tiny wrist?
First time I would say the 40mm would be better, as you have tiny wrists and a small hand. For a women the 40mm will look better. But I know that it can look very different in reality. If you like the bigger screen more, and the bug screen of the 44mm is just gorgeous, I would keep the 44mm.

44 would look horrible on you, imo.

Finally received my 44mm Series 4 today. I'm actually surprised how much bigger it looks on the wrist than my previous 42mm Series 0, even though they don't seem that different when you put them on the table side by side. I wish Apple had kept the previous size and just eliminated the border. The 40mm OTOH is far too small for me. Oh well.

After 5 days with the 40mm I’m thinkng of returning it for a 44mm. Not because I think it looks small but because I can’t get it to sit right on my wrist.

It keeps wanting to turn over on to my wrist bone. I’ve worn it with the sports band and I’m in between holes on it. Tried the smaller bit that comes with it but that’s too small. I’ve tried it with a link bracelet. Same problem. I’ve even tried it with a Milanese loop but it still try’s to ride the wrist bone.

I’m hoping the larger size will mean. 1. I am able to get a better fit with the sports band. 2. The larger size keeps,it more stable on my wrist.

Has anyone experienced this dilemma?

The case is wider than your wrist you do realize that don’t you? You should stick to the 40mm.

I think you should get what YOU like. Don’t worry about what others say or do. If you like the bigger screen go for it. Only one that needs to be happy with the purchase is you.

If you are a guy 44mm but if you are a girl, 40mm. Also, just so you know, 44mm ones do not have a good screen guards available in the market so you will have to wait for them to launch a good one. Amazon ones are good for nothing.

Haha this is funny. Not every male/female is the same size.

My wrist is 190mm and I’m using a 40mm watch. 40mm is already a large enough watch. I’m a male. Rule of thumb is a watch shouldn’t be wider than your wrist. But if you like it that way go ahead.

I’ve been looking at the actual sizes of these watches via the Apple store app. Can people who’ve actually got watches tell me how accurate they are?

Because I measured all 4 sizes across S3 and S4 by holding a tape measure to my phone and they all seem exactly correct except the 44mm. The actual size on screen is 45mm for me. So wondered if there’s an error in the app, with my accuracy, or if that really is the actual size and Apple just round down or something.

I tried to use it to trace the size on a paper and found the size to be slightly off on my iPad. The 44 was a little too big if I recall correctly. I ended up making exact sizes in SketchUp and printed them instead

Do you guys think this 44mm looks too big? At certain angles (2nd pic), it looks big but then if you look at the first picture, it looks ok.

It is really to each their own.

My wrist is 170mm. Both my wife and my oldest daughter (17) said the 44mm for me.

At first my daughter did not like the 44 - it had the sport band - because the band stuck out to much. She liked the size of the 44 on my wrist, but the band sticking out made the fit look awkward. Hence, she was leaning towards the 40 because the sport band wrapped better with the smaller watch on my wrist. When I put a Nike cloth sport band on the 44, the band wrapped around my wrist and she changed her tune to the 44 with a cloth band. My wife was 44 from the get go.

With that being said I ended up getting sport bands. Once the sport bands break in they wrap quite nicely.

Hi all, im going to get an AW S4 in a few weeks, a Q please... my wrists are just over 8” round so will the M/L straps fit ok with a few holes left or are my wrists too big that the strap will be on the last hole?

Thanks,
Adam.

Of course it looks bigger on the second pic because you took it up close.

I think you should be ok with the m/l band. There’s also tons of bands out there if you need to get one bigger.

the 44 doesn't look too big at all

I was surprised at how similar it was to my 42. I thought they had sold me the wrong watch and kept checking the back and the box description :)

I have a tiny 17.5cm wrist and it looks smaller then my 42mm Tudor or Ball

What do you mean by tiny 7.5cm? If that’s the width then that’s not tiny. If you mean circumference then that’s impossibly tiny.

im still wondering the same.. my wrist is 17,5cm too and watch looks smaller than I though. I was worried that 44mm would be too big, but now when it is on my wrist, it could be even larger. I too checked the bottom and it does say 44mm. I even measured it with a ruler and the screen is 40mm and if you measure furthest parts of the case, you probably may get the whole 44mm :D Thank god, I didn't buy 40mm...

So after returning my 40mm got the 44mm yesterday. It fits much better. I’m really happy I decided to do the swap.
