So I got an offer from someone I know for series 4 44mm aluminum GPS only for $263. There are some scratches on the screen from daily use, but that is about it. Do you think it is a good deal or should I wait?
In the same boat.

Wow, this group seems all over on sizes. I really do not know which size to get. My wrist measures 6.5". Is that average for a female? I like the low profile of my Fitbit Inspire HR, but I know there is a lot more to read on an Apple Watch. I was planning to buy the watch online. Is it possible to try them on at the Apple Store to see which size seems easier to read vs. fit on wrist?

Yes of course you can try them in store! It’s actually a very worthwhile exercise as I did this recently and discovered the 44mm would look silly on me despite my partner having one.

Whilst you’re there sample some bands too as you may find they aren’t as nice when they’re on!

@greenbre Definitely try them on in a store first! I wasn't sure either until I did that. I have 6" wrists and small hands, and I could tell right away that 40mm was right for me. In person, it will be much easier to make the decision.

Update for anyone unsure about sizes. First time Apple Watch owner here, and I am loving my 40mm AW5. The size is perfect!

My partner has a 44mm and it just looks too chunky on him. Hope this helps some people!

Thanks! Yes, I stopped by BB today and tried on both. I think the 40mm is better for my wrist.

I'm a guy and my wrists are only 5.9" so I went for the S5 SS 40mm. It does sit much better than a 44mm but strangely enough my S2 SS 42mm didn't seem too bulky on my toothpick-sized wrist.

I really hope you can help my with my choice because I’m going crazy: 40mm or 44mm? My wrist is about 175/180mm.

I tried to like the 44 but it's too bulky. The 42 was perfect. So although i'm on the 40, I wish they had a 42.

Always something. You get a perfect fit and they change it. Same thing with everything for me :D

People say 'it looks this way or that', but feel is my concern.

Really undecided still. LOVE the huge screen of the 44, but sometimes it feels too big for my 6.5” wrists... but coming from a 42 sometimes the 40 feels too small?

This is the 44:

I defer to MR people. Choose for me.

The 40's screen area is bigger than the 42. I don't see how a watch around this size can feel too small. It would have to be much smaller. The issue is that it's a little computer, and that complicates things. But i'd rather just not wear one than have it uncomfortable. As I said, the 42 was perfect, but just going up 2mm made it very uncomfortable (of course 2mm is just the width).

42 was perfect for me too.

The 40 is the same. It fits right. I don't even notice i'm wearing it, and that's the way it was with the 42.

However, the 44 feels unwieldy, and too large, by a wide margin. But I think plenty of guys like these big watches. Personal preference.

I'm in the same boat I have 165mm wrists and 42 was perfect for me but 44 is just enough to make me second guess this. The link band and leather loops and sport look fine but the classic buckle don't seem to work too well. Really wish they didn't increase the size because with the 42 my link fit perfectly and with this 44 I'm right between two links so it either fits great in the morning and is tight in the afternoon or is loose in the morning and fits well in the afternoon. Really kind of bummed they changed this I feel like I probably should go to the 40 mm but then all my bands won't fit and I really like the leather loop it's one of my favorite bands. I was one that thought this wouldn't really change things but it is just enough to put me in a tough spot. I think I'm just going to stick with the 44 and give up on the classic buckle type bands because I really don't use those too much anyway.

I ended up going 44mm. Everyone I’ve asked save one preferred the look of the 44mm on my wrists. Better battery, not having to rebuy bands... why argue?!

I currently have a 42mm S3 that I think is the perfect size for my wrist. I will be upgrading to the 44mm S5 even though it may look bulky on my wrist. I consider the Apple Watch a tech device and not a fashion accessory so the extra screen space is worth the sacrifice in aesthetics.

Let's see if Amazon delivers on their 1-day shipping promise.

Having a tough time with this.

Bands with lugs make me lean toward the smaller one, but sport bands and loops make me lean towards the larger one. My wrists are roughly 165mm.

Went through the same thing and most people I asked said go with the 44.

I am pleasantly surprised that so many people are going through the same dilemma .. I recently upgraded from a S3 42 to a S5 44, where I did not think much about it at the time, because re-using the bands I had was more prevalent on my mind.

The 44 did feel a lot bigger and bulkier to me, to the point where putting one of those Spigen cases (which I had worn off and on with 42) looked ridiculous on my arm.

With all of that said, I have resigned my self to the fact that (a) I am re-using my 42 bands, (b) it is a mini-computer that gets replaced every few years.. not a fashion item, and (c) bigger screen/fonts are better for my failing eyesight ;)

If I had to start new, I probably would have gone with the smaller one.

I would take the 44mm.

I have the same wrist (between 165mm and 170mm). I first thought that the 40mm would stay better, but it looks and feels just too small (not only) on my wrist. I have a much better feeling with the 44mm.
