Hmm, doen't it have to be at least UEFI and not legacy bios?

If you have access to the chip (meaning you went trough the mess of removing this monster of a carbon glued cooler of the 6800/6900/xt), also a USB-hardware programmer like the well known and cheap CH341A will do. The chip does not have to be desoldered to get it programmed!
I have this chip programer already. I used it to flash my titon ridge thunderbolt card.

My bad. Didn’t realize it is not accessible as the old cards.
Yes, it can be bit of a nightmare to get there for this cards!

I have some brandnew RX 6800 founders, which i wanted to flash with the programmer. I allready had the backplate off. As i realized the cooling unit did not even come off easily with all the screws removed, i gave up and looked out for some friend with a PC. I didn't want to damage or even destroy something at this expensive card. Later i read somewhere about the cooler beeing glued to the GPU-die with some sort of carbon/epoxy.

It sure is not an easy and riskfree task to get this thing off!

If you know someone with a 7,1 Mac Pro they can also flash it for you in Windows.

That’s how it did my RX6600XT using my 7,1 and egpu enclosure along with windows 11.

Just installed a RX6900 XT in my Mac Pro 7,1.

Using displayport with a InnoCN 27m2v monitor

Windows bootcamp gives me 4k 120hz VRR
OSX only gets me 60 fps no VRR

Anyone knows how to solve the issue?
Any luck? same thing for me Mac OS Monterey 12.6.5 60hz Windows 120hz with Aorus 48 inch oled. Using display port tried hdmi 2.1 also but no luck with rx6800xt

Just installed a Sapphire Pulse RX 6600 (no XT) on my 4,1 > 5,1 ... everything is working great.

I followed your instructions for "fixrx6x00rom" and everything worked at first try.

I'm using the flashed card on my main Mac Pro with latest Monterey (actually 12.6.6): I tryed it on my second Mac Pro with Ventura but I had problems during booting process ... maybe I forgot something to do on Ventura ?

Here some bench scores:

- RX590 (old card) > 39.447 (Geekbench 6 - Metal) > 36.611 (Geekbench 6 - OpenCL)
- RX6600 (new card) > 84.492 (Geekbench 6 - Metal) > 47.840 (Geekbench 6 - Open CL) > 21.752 (LuxMark)

Apple has blocked 4k 120hz for AMD 6000 Series cards, even though they support hdmi 2.1.

Any hackintoshers or e-GPU owners with 6800 XT getting 4k 120hz RGB 10 bit? The same AS Macs with hdmi 2.1/USB-c ports can easily do 4k 120hz RGB 10bit.

A real shame good hardware gone to waste.

Try Linux, just make a bootable LiveUSB is good enough, no need to install anything.

But what is the monitor reporting? There will be some button when pressed , will show details of the receiving signal. usually a small info window. That window should show resolution/refresh rates/color depth...etc.

What is the info shown by the monitor?

Apple never allowed 4k/120hz RGB 444 10 bit as of now. you may get 4k 120hz , but not full RGB 10 bit.

For e.g I have a LG CX , when I press the green button on my remote. it shows all the details. With a RX 6800 XT on Ventura 13.4. Best I could get was 4k 60hz RGB 10 bit or 4k 120hz YCBCR 420 10 bit. We do not want YCBCR. We want full RGB 10 bit.
