It's always comical to see the stock pile of unsold merchandise like this at various retailers be cleared at a significant discount and eventually be thrown away, at the end of these ironically divisive anyone-but-you months.

Beyond virtue signaling and lip service, if any tech company actually wanted to help and acknowledge the community, instead of employing an army of workers from developing countries, they'd be investing in jobs and training locally.
All it’s done for is to make the company look better and “inclusive” (whatever that’s supposed to mean).

It’s just a marketing tactic which is superficial, entirely meaningless in reality and reeks of hypocrisy.

I wish all companies would just stop it, but of course they won’t because it’s cheap publicly.

This works in the opposite direction than the creators would like.

It’s very sad to see some members are so racist and insecure about themselves that they forget that black people buy Apple products too. If they think this is “virtue signalling” they’re such lost souls.
They don’t need a whole month what about military month etc, also I don’t agree with them pandering this the identity politics, every add they release now has the same people in it do they know being diverse means being diverse and not just to one group of people, also why should we give out money when they gave some to the blm movement which now we all know isn’t going to help the community

Colors are pretty dark and muted. At first I thought it was a camouflage band. As with all their products.I'm sure they did lots of testing/proofing before final was chosen. Maybe a tad brighter colors??? Maybe in person its different.

Outdoors and in sunlight the colors will be brighter.

This is for me the reason that I don’t buy these kind of watch bands. I want to buy a band that matches my mood and my style. I don’t want to be associated with some form of activism or identity politics. Sorry, not sorry.
You don't have to be sorry. This band exists for people who *do* want to be associated with those things.

Apple forget that all people buy Apple products.
But this watch band doesn't exclude anyone? If you don't want it, don't buy it. It's a nice bit of marketing/CSR puff that some people will like because it allows them to display a good cause that means something to them. I don't see what problem it's causing, even if you don't think it's solving one.

Yeah like I said, I’m not sorry. I just wished they would release these bands without the identity politics attached to it, because now I can’t buy them.
If you like the look of the band, you could buy it and just like and wear it for the aesthetics? No one needs to know that it's for a cause you apparently disagree with, though it's a strange cause to oppose.

If you don't like the look of the band, why are you bothered that you can't buy it?

Why complain about something like this? What harm does it cause?

It's just a damn watchband and face art. Paint.

It's optional.

And it's message is that of unity, not division (it's in the name for crying out loud).

I swear, conservatives drive me nuts.

Everything isn't for you. You don't have to buy it. 😂

That's like a rap fan complaining about a country music artist releasing tour merch or something that they will never buy at a concert they would never go to.

Nothing is wrong with them releasing products/accessories for a specific group of people. That's the beauty of choice.

First, I’ve never said I don’t like the band(s). Secondly, I never said that I’m opposed to anything. Third, lots of people will recognize the loop band and assume that your wearing it to make a political statement. I just don’t like that idea very much. I prefer to stay neutral.

Please don’t put words in my mouth that I haven’t said.

Thank you.

Waiting for Apple to release an updated watch face to match this. Two hands grasping a giant dong-like shape between them would fit perfectly. They could even use the accelerometer to generate a nice shiny bronze effect as you move your wrist.

I get that this is mostly a USA-centric thing but Apple also pushes this globally, e.g. a big thing in the App Store with black content creators and adverts for 'an amazing calendar app by an African American developer!' And this is done in App Stores around the world, who have nothing like the kind of racialised history of the USA. Estonians, Indians and Saudis being told they need to amplify the dev skills of African Americans.

... But the African unity band does look cool
Apple is an American company. Nothing wrong with them highlighting any group of creators relevant in the US. Not to mention Black people exist on every continent. They also highlight Asian, Latino, Women, and LGBT creators. If you don't like an app, don't download/buy it. Simple as that.

As someone who is mixed with black and white, it is honestly upsetting so many have such negative comments on this thread. Stop looking at things that everything showing representation is "identity politics", seriously what is wrong with being able to buy bands or have a wallpaper that just represent African Americans? Do you get mad over Cancer Awareness colors? LGBTQ colors? What if Apple released an American Flag style band? would that be considered Identity politics then? I feel like those who have a problem with this band need a reality check and not everything is "Woke". Want to feel more represented then shoot emails to Apple encouraging more band options, but do not try to limit or desire limit to others because you are well..excuse me but butthurt.

Edit: guess there are a few butthurt. 😂

Relax, take it easy. No one is trying to limit you.

I feel like those who have a problem with other people having different opinions need a reality check.
