He probably made these type of jokes all the time at Apple.
The reference was too much on the nose not to be a joke, but still was in very poor taste.

More like a symptom of PC out control.
It was a joke, based on a movie quote. It probably does not matter to him. He is probably loaded from his years at Apple and to avoid any lawsuits from him, they probably gave him a big paycheck to go.
Time for him to write a juicy tell all book and make even more money off of Apple.

I don’t think that was a joke. He was just rubbing it in. Looking down on people surrounding you so not much of a joke. There’s a huge difference.
Sucks to be him, he assumed his joke will be taken as is, his employer thought he doesnt live up their moral standards.

It's a dumb thing to say regardless, but I think context is important in this case. However, I get that this is about Apple protecting their brand image.
If he is as good at negotiating deals as the article implies he won’t have any problem.
It's a hilarious comment, but it's totally off-brand for Apple. That's more a 70s/80s Apple thing to say. I would have loved to work for them back then.
