Does anyone know whether any of the 17.x updates have addressed (or claimed to address) the alarm bug that was reported on months ago? I’m still running into problems where alarms don’t go off on my phone/watch. Or where the alarm will appear on the screen but be completely muted.

Had to download new update and I was on RC.

Anyway, boring update. If only Apple released support for alt stores worldwide.

17.4 Final Build: 21E219
17.4 RC: 21E217

So this is an update to the RC. Hopefully it addresses battery drain issues on the RC. Also, it has a carrier settings update.

Doubt it tbh, most apps on Android are still distributed through the Google Play Store
I agree... in todays world where scams are proliferating all over... most people are just going to want to stick to an official App Store... and if that App Store happens to be the OS/device makers store... even more so.

For most people it's just not worth it to download even a single App via another route if it then opens up your device in any way to attack at all.

somewhere
I noticed scrolling issue in Safari under iOS 17.3.1 recently. Wondering if 17.4 fixes it.

Agreed. Unfortunately, politicians don't consider things like that (they'd actually have to understand the subject matter at hand). They care about throwing their weight around and getting their way, consequences be d***ed.

The DMA deadline has been announced in 2022:

It's Apple's choice to do the release that complies with the regulation last-minute.

These are silly. Add a changelog tab in the app for those that care. Me having to tap continue on every Apple app is a joke.

For those who are in the EU and already updated, where can side loading be disabled? I read here that it can be disabled on devices one controls through the Screen Time functionality, but how can one do it on his/her own device?

Just a guess here, but I can imagine a fair amount of apps are about to be pulled from the App Store in EU countries.

Just like all those apps that are pulled from the Google Play Store and are in the many alternative Android App Stores? Oh wait...

Most developers/apps will (also) stay in the Apple App Store. Users trust the Apple App Store most and developers will want to be where the users are.

I think the best thing that may come out of this (though it requires that the EU shoots down some of Apple's restrictions) would be an app store with apps that are not allowed in the Apple App Store, like emulators.
