I am a loyal and long time Apple customer and I wanted to have Vision Pro since day one.
I picked it up yesterday at an Apple store.
I can't see how this sophisticated device can make my daily use of computing and video calling any better, I want to talk to people and not an animated low quality digital persona.
REAL is REAL and much better than AR!
The whole concept of wearing this over the face device is WRONG!
I am VERY happy with my iPhone 15 ProMax and my 15" Mac Book Air.
Sorry Apple this time you disappointed me.

I’m not a person who normally returns things, but last night I went to disassemble and throw away the box, and I hesitated. Then I sat up in bed thinking about why I wanted to keep the return option open, and a lot of things crossed my mind.

My conclusion: I hate Hate HATE the eye tracking interface. I could forgive the washed out, hot-sidewalk pass through, and I could get used to the mild discomfort, but I probably spent 2/3rds of my time yesterday with Vision Pro trying to hit video navigation buttons, close window buttons, and trying to navigate to the eye tracking reset by guessing how far to the top/bottom or side of a menu option I needed to look (it was off because I adjusted the VP on my head slightly, like when I scratched my nose).

I desperately wanted a mouse option, but there is none. I even tried handoff with my Mac’s mouse (connecting to that wasn’t perfect either), but it didn’t seem to work.

I have other gripes too, and I think it’s normal for the problems to outweigh the “wow” factor after a while - I was expecting that. But I dread putting it back on my head and having to use that eye tracking interface again… so I’m LEANING towards returning it.

This is how I felt last night and by today I am loving it. Still have those “that isn’t what I wanted to ducking do moments” but a lot fewer of them and it is gong. Smoother. First things, I assume you have updated to 1.02 but that didn’t do much. Second, Siri is your friend. When things get cluttered, a quick “Siri, close all apps” will clean it up. And third, I hate to say it but practice helps. You need to look then click without moving your eyes off what you want to click. I would start to type then see suggestions pop up and and because of timing it would click a random suggestion instead of the letter I wanted. And fourth, switching tabs in safari is near next to impossible. You have to look at the bar, hold gaze there for the tabs to pop up, then move your eyes to the tab you want without looking anywhere else and then click when looking at the right tab. This is awful and would love a suggestion because this one almost made me throw a four thousand dollar head set.

50/50. I keep going back and forth. The light glare bothers me and that’s the sole reason. I bought it knowing it would mostly be for movies.

Every single time I use it, I love it. The interface, the eye tracking, the experience. It’s a complete joy. The hardest part is I don’t know if I can actually sit through a 2+ hour movie in a single sitting and get past the glare.

I’ll use the full 14 days to decide.

I bought mine to view 3D objects I modeled in my room. I finally got a chance to view a Daz Studio 3D character I converted to a USDZ file. I had thought I'd have to make a simple program to view it, but the Vision Pro already knew how to display the file. The character displayed perfectly in my room at full scale. I could walk right up and see small details in the model as if she was really there.

Vision Pro even got the lighting right. The displayed model cast shadows on her self based on where I placed her in the room. Adjusting my overhead light dimmer was also accurately reflected in the 'holographic' like display's appearance.

The Vision Pro is going to be a game changer for 3D modelling.

I'm now very happy with my purchase.

I don't understand why you wanted one in the first place if you find the very concept of it to be revolting. Where did you think you'd be wearing it, if not on your face?

A friend of mine went back to the Apple Store to ask if the glare was a hardware issue. They said it wasn't. :(

I acquired my AVP on launch day, and despite its superior technology compared to other VR devices, I find it not yet suitable for daily use.

I believe Apple may have engaged in borderline false marketing for this product; the pass-through display, though impressive, doesn't align closely with reality as depicted in ads. The eyesight technology falls short of Apple's promotional claims. The device's weight and discomfort make it impractical for work productivity.

In summary, the technology isn't ready for prime time. I'll consider trying the second generation if Apple continues this product, but I won't be keeping the first-gen device.

Undecided at this point, but honestly 80% on the return side right now. I've gone to bed every night so far thinking I might just return it tomorrow, but then for the first hour or so of playing with it I find reasons to keep it and enjoy it, but the reasons to return are building, tbh.

What I love- Spatial videos/photos taken of my cat, the gesture controls and the holographic-seeming awesomeness of "touching" the controls in the air and having it work, the pristine visual quality of elements within the software.

What I'm frustrated by- The FOV (way more binocular-looking than I'd expected), the glare when viewing bright elements on a dark background, the pass-through ain't great but that's not a deal-breaker, but I have to say one thing that's really irking me is there seems to be no way to watch VR videos from the internet. Yes, I'm talking about porn. It's not the only reason at all that I wanted this, but I'm not gonna lie, it's a factor.. and the fact that this headset doesn't allow it to work and seemingly doesn't even allow third-party apps to make it work might be the ultimate deal-breaker for me.

Probably keeping it, mainly because the tech is cool and it’s a fun toy. I’m also interested to just be here from the beginning and see what all of the software updates bring.

I am noticing a coil whine/faint electrical buzzing noise coming from the left side, particularly when scrolling. Not sure if this is expected or replacement-worthy but I’ll be monitoring that leading up to the return window.

I’m keeping it. Yes, I’m single with no kids. And there are downsides. The eyestrain for me. I can use this for an hour or so at a time. But the 3D is amazing. And having my entire field of vision as my canvas is the future. I’m willing to subsidize the future. It has that much potential. Compared to the original Mac this is a bargain.

You surely knew these things before you ordered one, and knew what it looks like and how it’s worn. You still went ahead and ordered one.

Sorry Apple this time you disappointed me.

What did you expect Apple to do about those issues?

You know you’re only going to see a digital persona from OTHER people who are using an Apple Vision Pro. You returning yours won’t stop them from talking to you from theirs. If they call you using a digital persona, are you going to tell them you won’t talk to them?
