Maybe MS buying them will help?
What makes you think them buying ActiBlizz is gonna change that? They want exclusives for Windows and Xbox since Mac is outselling every laptop on the market right now and Playstation is still kicking their asses.

As a new comer to the genre I didn’t find D4 or it’s skill tree complex. So if you’re concerned about complexity as a veteran Diablo player I’d say you’d be fine.I find POE too complex, so that might be a good thing. Hopefully not too light/simple though - there needs to be some depth.

Which will be true up until MS buys Activision Blizzard, then it will be on GamePass PC...Blizzard has said it won't be available on Microsoft GamePass for PC.
Game streaming has become quite good lately. I've played serveral games and the latency is very low if you have a good connection. Diablo 2 would be an issue because there is no personal loot, but thats not a problem in D4.Well no doubt about that, but streaming a multiplayer only game is not ideal as that just adds more latency, and Diablo is very macro input heavy.

How is D4 on bootcamp? Now isn't that the crux of it all: latency is very low if you have a good connection.
Now try it in a city that doesn't have fiber optic, or out in the country.

If Tim Cook thinks it’s worth it (enough sales) then he’ll throw $100M at them. This is very depressing. I have all the Diablo games and have been playing D3 a lot on my Mac. I wish Tim Cook could just send the studioa few millionswhatever it takes to get a Mac version... Very envious of the PC gamers now.

Yes after 11 years most of the D3 gaming experts are moving on. In retrospect as Raxxanterax said when Diablo 3 started it had a lot of problems, what a decade can change. I have played every season. I'd just supplement your system with a reasonable PC solution, in addition to your Mac setup as you will likely play it for several years. This is very depressing. Looking at the amount of Diablo IV content out there shows this 4 times the size successor as a tremendous world that most of the expert reviewers haven't had a chance to even explore/play for writing reviews. Reviewing the play style of the beta more then a month back they were limited to one of six areas (actually the smallest), limited to lvl 25, with a couple of areas where you could get lvl 30, one area LVL 35 drops. This game has more than 100 dungeons to find/explore besides exploring all the world topside in different difficulty levels, many side quests that you can pursue. It also represents the opposite of a linear quest game that Diablo 3 followed, as well as not restricting the game to playing solo or in groups up to 4.If Tim Cook thinks it’s worth it (enough sales) then he’ll throw $100M at them.
If you are really such a big Diablo fan, you could also just get a PC. System requirements are not that high and you’ll probably still play it in 10 years. It’s also likely to be the game of the decade.
You could even join in late, as servers will likely be overloaded in the first few days when millions and millions of players will try to play simultaneously.
There are very games in past and future gaming history that could create such a hype. Maybe GTA, or Half Life 3. That's it. I hope the final game and how they progress with it with updates throughout seasons will bring a balance of something like between Diablo 3 and Path of Exile. D3 is "too simple" and endgame PoE is too complicated and cumbersome with all the farming and crafting required. The amount of YouTube/Twitch activity will be nuts, and this is only the first season coming up with just 5 character types. The complete redo of how skills can be changed and that massive skill tree tree variations that lets one complete explore many variations of play style is quite something.
Well, you want to play Mario you buy Nintendo and if you want to play Sonic you buy (bought) Sega. An no one complained back then. I'd happily play D4 on the Mac, given the same experience. If it should ever happen, I will. And if not, then I'll play it anyway on another platform. This isn't a console title for me though, it just needs a keyboard and mouse. I'll likely start a few days late though, to get a better idea of potential builds and avoid the rush of likely 10M+ players making the servers explode. So yeah, I spent some money as mention in the other thread and now have a reasonable PC system that will install this in a couple of days. Would I like it to run on AS Macs sure, but the complication of MS acquiring Activision/Blizzard likely has delayed that some. Eventually it might happen if not, as you suggested just get some alternative for now, otherwise a fan might go nuts seeing the attention this new game will receive.
I got all originals of D1, D2, and D3 with expansion packs. So yes, I am a huge fan, and has been playing this game since my early twenties and I am approaching 50..... Haha, God. Really. If Tim Cook thinks it’s worth it (enough sales) then he’ll throw $100M at them.

Tell me about it. I remember buying them all very well and even in what store I did. D4 is a digital copy for me though.I got all originals of D1, D2, and D3 with expansion packs. Ah, that should work, yes. You could also just dual boot without the need for a new Mac.Yes, I have been considering a PC, but I really do detest PC hardware. Can't help it. I might get a new Mac for work and setup my iMac Pro as a bootcamp Windows box.
