One of the most common intellectual mistakes people make is to make analogies out of non-analogous things. You are doing that here.

You don't see news media and social media as analogous? You'll have to argue that point with the rest of the planet. Here's a hint: they're both methods of disseminating information, and given that they are both clearly biased, not as dissimilar as you might believe them to be.

The remainder of what you wrote seemed sort of condescending so I'll just disagree and move on.

Define "elite". I've met a lot of people in a lifetime and I've never met one I considered elite.
Just about everyone earning $600k or more in the DC beltway. This would also include the upper echelons in the NYC metro area and much of the SF Bay Area (Marin County, Palo Alto, etc).

Basically just think of rich entitled "liberals" who look down upon those less fortunate than themselves. (Ex: making fun of poor "trailer trash" that lost everything in a tornado. Drunk wine moms who would accost anyone wearing an opposing political hat in their high-end grocery store. Tech / Finance bros who can't imagine why anyone would have a practical use for a gun because they're unable to imagine the circumstances of anyone not living in a city. The "woke" mother who spends $50k/year to send her child to a private school that has no minorities in attendance)

They're essentially people living in a sheltered existence who have never dealt with a hardship and have zero empathy for those that they don't understand.

1. The Fair and Balanced motto was retired in 2017.
2. Suggests what? Have you forgotten your question I answered?
3. Fox News is a conservative news organization so the bias is implied. No outrage is necessary so no double standard.

1. Wow, some honesty from them finally. Refreshing.
2. It suggests that they maintained a pretense of being unbiased.
3. No, most of their history has existed behind a laughable facade of being balanced and not having a bias, all the more hilarious given that they are one of the most egregious examples of bias in the media.

It seems like you’re just upset that you don’t get to call me a hypocrite for my criticism of Fox because you probably assumed I get all my news from MSNBC and Huffington Post.

Strange how often that happens, huh? Whenever I post something about how awful Fox "News" is, some yahoo pops up and insults CNN or MSNBC, assuming I'm going to flip out. My response usually goes like this: Yeah, and...? 🤷‍♂️

I actually don't watch any televised or mainstream corporate news sources. Ever. They're all garbage, usually a lot of chattering heads slinging hot opinions around and getting emotional or engaging in bunch of political posturing. What an absolute waste of time. Comparing one to the other is like comparing the waste from a dog with the waste from a horse. Difference source, same smell.

This is a fantastic work of fiction. You should develop this into a novel.

Pretty much. NPR in the car sometimes. Throw in Fivethirtyeight during election season. The Hill and Politico are both quite objective compared to most news sources and they both produce more content than I can read in a day anyway. Not really a need for much else. It seems like you’re just upset that you don’t get to call me a hypocrite for my criticism of Fox because you probably assumed I get all my news from MSNBC and Huffington Post.

Fair enough but left and farther left sources isn’t too informative and it shows.

2. You seem want to discuss Fox when the topic was your comment about there being a double-standard.
3. See number 2.

Twitters model seems good enough. It’s already here, and it’s staying!

Ideas are allowed to be exchanged so long as you don’t threaten anyone.

Very happy and excited that Twitter is better than it’s ever been, and very active. So much more active discussions now and flow of ideas
Better than it’s ever been?

You do realize that all of Elmo’s new ideas for Twitter failed, and that he’s abolishing his free speech absolutist principles to keep Twitter on the AppStore and get Apple’s advertising dollars back on his platform?

The $8 verification wet dream was doa. So now he’s steadily inching his way back to pleasing corporate America with the level of censorship and moderation that suits their agendas, just like pre-Elmo Twitter did.

And exactly what has changed or improved? We got a few weeks of unnecessary drama from someone who failed to understand the Twitter business model?

Amazing! We couldn’t have been without it! Thanks, Elmo!!👏 🤪👏🤓🍾🎉

My guess is all of this was smoke and mirrors, with Apple having done little to nothing and Musk just creating a narrative to distract from his capricious leadership decisions at Twitter.

This is of course not true and never was. Who do you think you're fooling?
This was explicitly true. The Ayatollah of Iran still has his account and only now are accounts pushing kiddie pron and other similar activity are being banned.

"
A cyber security and data analyst funding research into Twitter’s alleged child sexual abuse material (CSAM) problem said Saturday that the platform has nearly doubled its daily suspension rate on accounts that share exploitative content containing child pornography.

Andrea Stoppa, founder of cybersecurity group Ghost Data, had personally funded research into the issue earlier this year after receiving a tip about the problem’s severity. The report allegedly found more than 500 accounts soliciting child sex abuse material that appeared alongside or on profile pages of at least 30 major advertisers’ Twitter accounts, which led some of those companies to pull or pause their ad services from the social media platform.

Following his initial analysis last September, Stroppa and Twitter’s Trust and Safety team said the social media platform had updated a mechanism to detect past and present content related to CSAM at a much “faster, more efficient, and more aggressive” speed, which has approximately doubled the daily suspension rate of accounts promoting the egregious material.

“No mercy for those who are involved in these illegal activities,” Stroppa said, adding Twitter will find such “illicit” content and act accordingly despite when it had been published.

Child pornography and other sexual abuse material on Twitter has been documented on the platform for well over the last decade. Just last year, 86,666 CSAM reports were made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children."

It is more than just rich people - it is people with power. What we have recently seen is the combination of government power with corporate power to drive oppression in the US. THAT is fascism and is the same model used by Germany in the 1930's.

Here was the story in 2020 when Twitter refused to ban the Ayatollah of Iran.

Twitter executives last month rebuffed a request from the Israeli government to remove tweets from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei calling for the genocide of the Israeli people — claiming in a stunning letter obtained by The Post that the Jew-hate qualified as “comments on current affairs.”

The decision comes after the social media giant recently began policing President Trump’s tweets, alleging they “glorify violence” and spread misinformation about mail-in voting.

In a May 20 letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Israel’s Minister for Strategic Affairs Orit Farkash-Hacohen called for the company to uphold its own hate speech policy and remove antisemitic tweets from Khamenei calling Israel a “cancerous growth” to be “uprooted and destroyed.”

Disable AirDrop, at the request of the Chinese government. The same Chinese government that can control their manufacturing process and has a significant influence on sales in the area. Again that’s money issue. The Twitter thing is also about money. Tim doesn’t want to seem like his company supports someone that’s offensive to a percentage of the population. This might influence their purchase of Apple products. He’s also careful not to seem like he wants to offend people who support Musk, which could also influence the percentage of the population to purchase or not purchase his products.

He’s a salesman. It’s like the arms dealer doesn’t really care what side wins the war as long as he keeps getting sales.

So Tim is worried about "offensive tweets" which is just fine in a free society - you have a right to be offensive and others have a right to critique your public statements. Tim doesn't care about people being offensive on Twitter - he doesn't like the fact that Musk will allow free speech on a visible platform which could go against the elite's interests (Tim Cook is in the elite). Meanwhile - he supports the CCP in suppression of protestors and benefits from slave labor in China. He interestingly ignores China's strict policy against homosexuals. but it proves he is just another corrupt element of the elite kleptocracy.

A year or so ago - Twitter defends ANTIFA post calling for Arson of police officers home. Interesting, if you disagreed with Drag Queen Story Hor for kids - you were banned for being violent. But call of Arson on a police officers home? All good.

An Anitfa-aligned group's tweet that seems to celebrate arson doesn't violate the site's policies because the post's language is too vague, according to Twitter.

Fox News noted Monday that Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front tweeted "this is so cool" in response to an article about officials investigating alleged arson targeting a law enforcement officer. Oregon Public Broadcasting reported on Friday that federal law enforcement agencies were investigating the issue, although the Washington County Sheriff's Office already claimed the incident was arson.

A law enforcement official reportedly said that there was a "concern in this case that the officer was surveilled and followed home."

Twitter's Elizabeth Busby told Fox News on Tuesday that the tweet didn't violate its rules and linked to its policy on safety and other issues.

ANTIFA-ALIGNED GROUP CHEERS ALLEGED ARSON AT POLICE OFFICER'S HOME, TWITTER ALLOWS TWEET

The social media company's prohibition against glorifying violence warns that doing so could "inspire others to take part in similar acts of violence." It specifically mentions "violence" directed at marginalized groups, and which result in bodily harm, although it notes that violations aren't limited to those instances.

"We define glorification to include praising, celebrating, or condoning statements, such as 'I’m glad this happened', 'This person is my hero', 'I wish more people did things like this', or 'I hope this inspires others to act'," the policy reads.

Not really - he is rich but he goes against the elite and is paying a price for it. Totally different than the Apple/Google/DNC/Globalist crowd.
He "goes against the elite" but just shut up about his grievances with Apple because they put their ads back on Twitter and let it stay in the AppStore?

"Totally different" than the globalists but just banned Kanye West despite being a free speech absolutist?

I think you're thinking of a Elon from many weeks ago, Elon pre having to make ends meet at Twitter HQ.

Not to mention what Elon is doing is the literal exact opposite of fascism. Fascists and communists both deplore free speech.

The irony is that those hating on him now want twitter (a private company) to act as an arm of the Biden administration, which is…

… fascism.
Allowing fascism a fair and equal ground for speech isn’t freedom of speech. It’s supporting fascism….

To be fair, I don’t know for certain what is going on in other people’s heads. But it seems to me that is the whole reason they are upset - that Twitter will no longer function as an instrument of the DNC.
Republicans have Truth Social and Grinder. Where they belong.
Republicans will continue to loose the popular vote as they have for the rest of eternity.

Weren’t people like you claiming Twitter would be offline in a matter of days like 2 weeks ago?

We went from days, to weeks, to months. Next up is years, I guess.

I’ll be back in a few months to remind you to revise your prediction.

And just block the accounts you don’t like. I’ve got tons of lefties I don’t follow in my feed.
I’m a disabled combat vet, done terrible things for my country. It’s upsetting that people cry about lefties and righties. How about honoring the sacrifices the people have died for so all of you can be **** stains and just be Americans. Left or right. Work together or you to can join the army and watch your best friends die in your arms so you can cry about someone just wanting basic freedoms like healthcare and a living wage.

Disagree - the whole purpose of free speech is to allow unpopular speech. The ACLU supported the rights of a Nazi party group to march in Skokie, IL back in the early 1970's. If someone is truly espousing "fascist" speech - then it will clearly be pointed out. The problem is liberals think EVERYHING that disagrees with their world view is "fascism". Moat of the speech that has been banned by the previous executive was NOT fascist or hate speech.

A couple of points. They are also on Twitter now and GETTR. Second - you don't have a right to put people into technology ghettos. No one "belongs" anywhere in a free society.

Third - if you tally all the votes from the mid-terms - Republicans had 5 million more votes than the democrats. Nice try.
