Strange how the term “fascist” is thrown about by the super-ignorant who think Twitter was better off when it censored people for expressing ideas that they disagreed with which is exactly what real fascists do.

Hint: if you’re against free speech, censoring people you don’t like, and would rather live in a bubble than debate ideas, you’re likely supporting fascists/authoritarians.
I think your points are great but isn’t the sole idea behind social media consumption that the consumer lives in a bubble constantly confirming whatever bias they have? Twitter is not a tool for debate it seems but a tool for one to preach to those unwilling to listen to differing opinions in the first place.

Remember when Tim Cook or Disney had no issues doing business with China even when they removed John Boyega, an african american actor, from the Star Wars movie posters.

That is very on-brand for Disney China.

Yes and no I would say. One can definitely choose to remain isolated in an echo chamber of their own ideas, but allowing everyone to have a voice on the platform can allow everyone to seek out differing ideas if they are open to it. True liberalism is being open to listening to differing ideas and being tolerant of them. Twitter is just an open space to put out the ideas, there can be good debates if they allow for it. There can also be groups more apt to wanting to silence any dissenting idea to their own ideology, these are the fringe left and right.

Glad to hear that Apple came back to their senses. Supporting free speech for everyone is more important than making the elite comfortable.
LOL

So "supporting free speech" now means you must advertise on certain platforms and if you don't you are not supporting free speech?

LOL

I hate to tell you, man, but by this definition – unless YOU personally are also advertising on Twitter – that means you don't support free speech.

Really? Were you there? Seems to me that Tim is looking a lot more uncomfortable now from recent pictures of him not answering public questions by journalists. Your confirmation bias is showing.

1. Musk went to Cook. Cook is Musk’s biggest client on Twitter. Musk needs the ad income.

2. Cook “looks” uncomfortable? That’s your dataset? Cook always looks like that in the presence of morons like Trump and Musk and brain dead reporters looking for clickbait sound bites.

Thank you for supporting fascism, Apple! <3
Seriously? You are calling him a fascist because.... The guy that has brought USA back into the space race with Spacex, brought internet to front line troops in Ukraine, played a leading role in the EV race, put USA ahead in battery development...and not to mention brought payment alternatives through his former company that became paypal, but you call him random names because you don't like what he has done with twitter in the first month of ownership?

Please tell us your feats and political changes you have made with your company. Tell us how you have saved lives in Ukraine.

Twitter isn’t pioneering free speech on the internet, it was the default up until no one wanted to be liable for the actions of the dregs of humanity organizing on their sites. In case you all forgot about it, 4chan is still such a place, and the discussions aren’t even limited to a hundred characters, so you can go there and see how all the “good debates” go, and what a site looks like with hands-off moderation. Ever since all the worlds school shooters, actual neonazi groups, pedophiles and angry 13yo psychopaths called it home, it serves as the premiere destination for the libertarian dream of a free marketplace of ideas. As Twitter becomes a more household version of that, I’ll look forward to seeing “sponsored by Apple” on the banner next to the incest porn ads.

It may be small, but my company spent $50k on Twitter ads this year. Depending on how the economy goes we might increase spending this next year.

Which ideas do you think were banned?

Did anyone really believe Apple would pull Twitter from the app store? Elon already made it clear the whole 'retvrn to free speech' thing is a marketing farce well before the 'Apple will pull twitter' narrative started. It seems more like Elon propagated the ''''rumor'''' to reinforce his underdog narrative that has helped bulletproof him and his ventures for a long time now.

Elon is at best business as usual for content moderation and at worse going to crack down on dissenters even more than the old Twitter team. Meeting with Macron and constantly harping about "we're gonna make both the far left and far right upset!" was enough of an indication and the advertisers know that.

Twitter ads aren't going anywhere.
Not so sure it will be moderation as usual. He has let a lot of users who were banned out of political bias by executives and has actually starting removing the kiddie pron the previous leadership ignored and he dropped the dime on how Twitter covers for Hunter Biden and the laptop. I think its Apple realizing it's looking like a CCP tool and cannot continue to have good business in the US while he suppresses free speech here in the US and works with China to oppress protestors.
