Any idea where on the iPhone file system the files are saved?
Not sure where diskaid lets you read/write from, but I'd assume (haven't checked though) that you'd be looking in:
/var/mobile/Applications/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/Documents/
where xxxxxxx is your unique ID for the AirSharing app (you'll have to search through them all to find it I guess.

Has anyone figured out how to add folders? rename folders? I'm used to DataCase where you can add folders directly on the iPhone within the app - can't seem to find the same functionality in Air Sharing ... perhaps the folders must be created on your mac/pc and then "transfered" to the phone??? Hmmm ....:confused::confused:

Loving this App. I can connect via the IP address by going to Finder -->Go --> Connect To Server and it works perfectly.

But I cannot figure out what to do to use Bonjour name? Do I go to Finder --Go --> Connect To Sercer and use Bonjour name instead? When I do I get an error. Is there something on my Macbook I need to enable?

I understand the Bonjour service is supposed to be running as default?

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Click the "?" ... select Connecting from the top nav ... slect Windows from the top nav ... so under Windows, you must first estabish a new My New Network Places on your pc .... you should see the ip address on the bottom of the opening screen ... or touch the "gear" icon on the bottom right and get the ip address from there ... you'll use this ip address when setting up the My NEw Network Places

Gotta say this is one great app. Creating folders is easy (just manage it through your computer).

This is perfect for me: I have two Macs I use almost every day -- my desktop and the laptop I take to work. For small files like e-mail attachments this is a great substitute for either a flash drive or bluetoothing the files.

Shows how lazy we all have become. Ten years ago I would have died for something like bluetooth or flash drives. Now, I'm think they can sometimes be inconvenient.

Please help. I'm doing exactly as everyone says: wireless is on on ipod touch (2.02), have opened Airsharing, go to finder/connect to server, and enter the IP address as shown, incl. the http:// before and the ":8080" after...

continue to get "can't connect cause it can't be found."

Again: please help. Thanks!

Bonjour difficulties

I can connect without difficulty using the IP, but Bonjour is not working. The address is displays in Air Sharing is http://Bonjour.local:8080. "iPhone" is not my phones name. Any suggestions on guessing what mine is based on my phone's name (essentially "John Doe's iPhone").

Strange, me too. I usually have no problems connecting to servers that way. This one just gets me that error your posting.

I have previously used Files, but there I had some problems with initial connection. I had to switch Regional Settings from Swedish to English(UK) for them to communicate.

With Air Sharing I do not have that problem, so I think I will continue with AS instaed. It works very smoothly.

(On the negative side: With AS, I managed to transer a 350MB pdf file (which has not succeeded with any other application, but when I tried to open it in AS, the iPhone just locked up and had to be rebooted. I guess that was just what I deserved... With 128 MB of RAM, the iPhone cant handle a file that big)

I was finally able to connect using Bonjour by typing:

http://iphone.local.:8080/

I was able to get that address by enabling "Bonjour" in Safari and getting the address from there. For some reason it needed the "." after "local".

Anybody have any trouble getting this to work with WinXP? I can view the files ok with FireFox (I set a pw and IE wouldn't connect since it doesn't handle prompting for username/pw very well) but I really want to be able to create folders and copy files over from my work PC... I was able to create a new folder and move a couple things over from my MBA last night without any trouble...

I tried creating a site under the My Network Places but when I enter the address http://###.###.##.##:8080 it just times out trying to connect... I was thinking it was maybe related to having the pw set so I took that off in the app on my iPhone but I still could not get it to connect... I should also mention that the wireless connection between my work PC and the iPhone consists of a USB wireless adapter plugged into the PC and an Ad Hoc network between the two rather than a formal network... I wouldn't think that should make any difference and like I said, I can see files ok in FF... Any ideas??? TIA

i didnt even notice the IP there. Thanks..

I am also running Vista with an ethernet broadband internet connection. No wifi, so will i still be able to use this app?

:D Wireless router is Needed :D

Basically, this AirSharing installed a sharing server on your Ipod/Iphone and answer to http://192.168.X.X:8080 address. (192.168.X.X is the IP address of your Ipod/Iphone obtained from the wirless router.)

This sharing is protected by the strength of the username and password you set up during installation of this AirSharing. Example, if your computer has 192.168.1.100 and your IPhone has 192.168.1.102, this is the same network on the same Wirless router, you can connect to your Ipod/Iphone and copy or delete file just like a wireless drive!!! The copy speed is fast since I have a 54Mb router. This is good. You don't have to depend on the sync only when you want to copy a movie right a way from another computer on the same router as your IPod/IPhone connected to, so you can watch immediately.

Thanks Saxman. A reboot didn't work, however, I did a little searching on apple's support. Here's the link for anyone who gets the same error I got.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1736

Apparently I had to delete a folder called "URLMount (from old Mac)" for it to work. Voila!

it is frustrating i got air sharing working perfect with my XP at work (no bonjour though) but i cannot at home with my mbp. it just cannnot connect and as soon as i deleted the URLMount folder i started getting the error you show on your pic !!!!. what else did you do to get it working ?

I previoulsy purchaes "Files" and this works exactly the same way, even uses the same IP address as the server. So, I wonder if they will work together, but I don't see how - your computer will connect to the same server port, but not both applications! (guessing, haven't tested it yet)

For those with connection issues on Windows - Firewall settings! I use trend at home and had to set it to a different profile which I guess unblocks the port.

Edit: so it looks like whichever one was running when the computer is set up is the one the computer will see. I think this is a great free app, but when it goes on sales, I think Files is the better app. Shows the real icons PDF, Word etc and has more viewing options such as placing a bookmark in a large document.

how did u get it to work at your work

couple of issues. i have the firewall off. before doing anything i was able to access it via firefox3 - then disconnect ff3 and follow the instructions under the add network place wizard - tried using the air sharing ip for the phone
http://10.1.10.2:8080 and did not work - then added period before :
http://10.1.10.2.:8080 - it took like 40 sec to connect and have the wizard set it up.

here at home after two hours i just gave up and say i am glad is FREE i already spent enough in datacase else it gives me just half of what i need
