my battery has been stuck at 89% now for a number of months however, according to Coconut Battery the capacity has actually increased to 95/96% - that seems very strange to me, makes me wonder if Coconut Battery isn't working well with the latest version of iOS.
It is probably the same raw data. However, coconutBattery appears to calculate and log at the moment it grabs the data (at app launch, I assume). On the other hand, Apple’s own Battery Health percentage result appears to be based on averages, or a more complex algorithm. My coconut battery estimate went from 93% to 100% after the latest IOS update, meanwhile according to IOS I am still at 92% max capacity on my 13 pro Max. Which is more accurate?
Technically, they should be pulling from the same data. I've been hearing more and more reports of this though. 3.9.7 is still the latest version (for coconutBattery). Hmm. <shrug>. I guess we could email the developer.
And as I noted earlier:
The battery health reported by iOS/macOS/watchOS is the only one that matters because it is what Apple is going to consider when providing support and allowing battery replacement.
