Not needed anymore. The glass is good enough.
I like my phones naked and only ever got hairline scratches on my original iPhone, 4, 5, 6, and 7. I got a somewhat decent scratch on my 13 Pro within the first week and couldn’t believe it. Put a screen protector on right after that for the first time ever. The glass starting with the 12 definitely seems softer (even if more shatter resistant). Just my anecdotal experience!

Quartz scratches at a level 7

Pocket Sand is essentially quartz, so we need Sapphire Glass that scratches at a level 8 to finally be rid of micro scratches.
Didn’t they set up a sapphire glass facility, but couldn’t even manage if for camera and watch glass?
No way are they doing whole phones with sapphire.
At least not for many years. Probably will be the “must have” feature of iPhone 25 haha
