Interesting. I wonder when we will be seeing it, and I wonder if it will shortly precede the release of Tiger, much like 10.2.8 did.

.8 is good, but it falls short of completely fixing the "not always clicking when click the mouse on a link or x" issue i have. still, .8 is better than .7

If it's true, we won't be seeing Tiger before mid-April.

In 2.5 years, I've never had an OS X update do anything negative to any of my Macs (3). You guys must not be living right. :)

I guess you're referring to the G5 PM fan issue. 10.3.8 *fixed* my fan problem. Lucky me!

other .8 Problem

The biggest difference that I have seen since installing .8 is that I have been getting popups in Safari. I have had more in the last two weeks (8) then I did in the last year (1). And yes, the pop up blocker is on.

My computer hasn't woken from sleep 3 times since going to 10.3.8. Call of Duty won't quit, it locks up and I have to force quit it. And yes, I know all about reparing permissions, fsck and eating cheerios to keep my LDL cholesterol low.

Needless to say, I'd love a 10.3.9... unless it botches more things.

Looks like they're going to leave panther with a crapload of bugs, particularly on the powerbook end of things. Unless they miraculously fix all of them with 10.3.9.

There's a current MR thread on this. Safari is not the only browser exhibiting this behavior. It's happening with Firefox (on PC), among others. It's a new popup tactic that the browsers haven't caught up to, yet. It has nothing to do with 10.3.8; it's just coincidence.

My computer JUST kernel panic-ed as I read this thread. No joke. A weird one too, where some black text came up over my frozen web browser... said something about trying to access a remote debugger.... I felt that was a little *too weird* and restarted.

Stupid 10.3.8

This is really a quick turn around for another update. Thank you Apple for being hard at work for us. Hopefully this will correct previously posted problems.

Same here!!! I was considering starting a thread about it to find out if other people were having the same problem. Well now I dont need to :)
In the last year Iv probably had an average of 1 popup every month. Now I'v already had 5 this week!!!

Sorry about my last post. I somehow didn't see this post  strange. So, I hope that it is fixed in .9 because it is really irritating me.

10.3.9.1?

no but really I've been noticing the beach ball a lot more often the last few days and I just put two and two together. I hope they fix this, never really had any problems before.

The next update would simply be 10.3.10. The numbers aren't stopping them.

The arrival of 10.4 will lessen the chance that further updates of 10.3, with new features, will occur, but security updates to 10.3 will no doubt continue after Tiger is released.

MDD/FW800 Audio Bug being addressed finally?

Ever since Apple released OSX 10.3.6 Update, along with it came the dreaded increased volume (with some towers to the point of distortion) bug that affected many MDD & FW800 towers. Then came OSX 10.3.7 & 10.3.8 which never addressed this issue. Hopefully it'll get fixed in OSX 10.3.9, if not Apple better get it right with OSX 10.4 Tiger, cause I ain't for hell gonna pay $!29 for an OS that won't function properly on my MDD tower!

I think Apple might make the 10.3.9 release a rotten update to make everyone want to buy Tiger. Good business strategy, poor ethics. What do you think, more Apple lawsuits or more Tiger public appearance because more Mac users will have it?

Or Apple could just give us a good 10.3.9 update.

People are having fan problems on their G5? I don't think mine could get any quieter. I leave it on at night and can hardly hear the thing.

My DSR-11 DV deck makes more noise than my Dual G5. And the deck is only the size of a small shoebox.

Not really.

They could do 10.3.10, 10.3.11, 10.3.12, etc.

My guess is that 10.3.9 is the last update for Panther though. It'd be silly to go beyond that unless Tiger's still not ready.
