If you use Spotlight, its conversion functions pretty much support everything.

I hope those results are specific to your location/country because in the U.S. if you answer that 100 feet = 1.200 inches or that 10 miles = 17.600 yards, the teacher will give you a fail grade.

1.200 and 1,200 as well as 17.600 and 17,600 mean different things.

It could only be the US....

Damn, waiting whole year for that.
Bet they will take 10mins in their presentation talking about it.

Oh, I never knows Mac actually has one lmao, always use spot light for calculations.

Funny enough, a bunch of versions of os x away i somehow deleted the calculator app and spotlight suddenly stopped doing math. So at least back then you were using the app whether you knew it or not.

Not sure if it's still true though and I'm not going to delete the calculator again to test.

I bought Numi for the variables and notes/history. It would be nice to have those features built in.

Let me guess, they spent the whole year revamping a calculator app that no one asked for. Lol.

I hate it when most of the new "features" of each macOS could easily have been given to us as a standalone app. For instance, there are standalone browsers, standalone calculator apps, standalone video conferencing apps.

And by tying in these apps embedded into the macOS --- didn't Bill Gates get sued under AntiTrust laws for embedding the Windows Explorer browser into the Windows operating system -- isn't Apple just doing another Monopolistic Bill Gates-like manoeuvre?

I don't need the majority of new features of each macOS, and yet the crucial software that I use progressively only supports the few most recent versions of macOS, thus forcing my Mac hardware into obsolescence.

Not happy.

The only change I care about -- and not one I see listed here -- would be to add an automatically displayed scrollable tape to the actual calculator so I can easily check for miskeying errors. The current open-it-in-a-separate-window "solution" is a clunky, inefficient, laughably bad workaround.

I don't want to convert construction units, I want to be able to add distances, or get areas. 15'-4 7/8" - 3'-7 1/4". 12'-6" x 15'-4 1/2", etc.
No problem:

Hehe, yes it's locale specific. , is the decimal point separator and . is the thousands separator here. I flip between different locales frequently enough that I just see both symbols as "separator" of any kind and use context to figure out what's intended the vast majority of time though. Good thing programming languages tend to use _ as the thousands separator. Much less ambiguous among locales.

I honestly just use spotlight, as it is more convenient to pull it up quickly to solve a quick equation then dismiss it. That being said, I dont do a ton of math on my computer, and the occasional time I have to solve a problem that just seems messy in spotlight, I.e. adding 15 or more number, I do whip out the calculator and it works just fine for what I need.

On the other hand, I dont mind apple looking into their built in software more like they seem to be doing lately, such as the recent updates to numbers, keynote, and pages. Those particular updates were very useful to me.
