Ah no; I was merely jesting that since you are using Brave and not finding any random springs on 10.15.2, maybe you could install 10.15.3 and enjoy some random automation ....

I do not see any random behaviour with any app on my Mac on 10.15.3. This is most likely the app or its permissions or some corruption somewhere, this is not a known and common with 10.15.2 or 10.15.3. If Brave browser has some forum, maybe you can see if others are experiencing something similar?

So 10.15.3 still haven't fixed any of the issues I had since 10.15. Literally is still the same:

- 2-3h less of battery life compared to Mojave
- Weird bug with column view in finder (gets stretched randomly)
- Bug with some thumbnails in Finder
- Location services on all the time in menu bar
- Music app still feels like an alpha...

I'm very disappointed with Catalina, hope 10.16 fix this mess...

So 10.15.3 still haven't fixed any of the issues I had since 10.15. Literally is still the same:

- Weird bug with column view in finder (gets stretched randomly)
- Bug with some thumbnails in Finder
- Location services on all the time in menu bar
- Music app still feels like an alpha...

I'm very disappointed with Catalina, hope 10.16 fix this mess...

Have you installed a fresh copy just to check?

No, I can still use it fine, it would be a pain to do a clean install, there are just some bugs that I expected to be fixed by now.
Maybe I try to reinstall again the OS, but as I said, I can’t do a clean install right now. Also I don’t have any problems with my iTunes library, and that seems to be rare hahah

Up until this update it was always a black screen with a white Apple logo and a progress bar in the middle. Thank you!

Your upgrade screen is normal.

No, this screen is not new to this update. This screen has been present since at least 10.15.2 betas.

I think they would do well to enable dark mode on that screen if the update is taking place in the night.

Yeah I really liked the fact that the update screens felt so unified across all the devices, iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac and Apple TV (I don’t know about the Homepod). I am not sure I like this change, it reminds me to macOS recovery/safe boot screen, that is what made me scared.

To me it appeared during the update and the MacBook spent 95% of its time on this screen until the 10.15.3 update was successfully installed.

That can't be. Once the update gets downloaded, the computer restarts, and after a while, most likely post another restart, this screen comes up and the system goes about updating to restart one last time. You can take note of this the next time you update.
 
Well, looks like I spoke too soon! I just started up my late 2012 Mac Mini, and after signing in, the Brave browser was launched! Yet for my 2018 Mac Book Air, that does not happen. Sure is perplexing. The only difference between just now and all other times since installing OS 10.15.3 is that my Mac Book Air is sitting next to my Mac Mini (normally it is in my bedroom downstairs).

In any event, after I pick up my new 2018 Mac Mini tomorrow down n Portland, I will do all the set up on Sunday, ie, fresh, clean installation of OS 10.15.3, and then migrating/copying needed files, folders, etc. from the SuperDuper! backups for both of my Macs I will be doing soon.

I suggest you cherry-pick files from your backup and copy them to your new computer. Takes more time, yes, but ensures that nothing that is not needed is bundled along with and creates the same issues as before on another system.

Also, look into Brave's own settings and your login and startup settings in System Preferences. There should be something that is asking for Brave to open at login.

By any chance, do you have Brave open when you shut down the computer occasionally, along with having the option to reopen windows when logging back in checked? It is possible that sometimes Brave is open when you shut down the computer so when you restart it, Brave is fired back up and sometimes you do not have Brave open before shutting down, so Brave doesn't open back up. The whole thing can happen so unconsciously that it might seem as random behaviour on Brave's part.

Do get back. Good luck resolving the issue!

Don't thing "cherry picking" files from my backup would make much difference, if any. When I did the clean installation of OS 10.15.3, and then migrated/copied files, folders, settings, etc. from the backup, I let the process handle it. Did not have the "phantom" startup issue for 3 days. Also, it does not happen on my Mac Book Air.

I have looked numerous times at the startup and login settings in System Preferences, and saw nothing there. I'll take a look at the ones in Brave. But I would not have the settings different in Brave between my 2 Macs.

Finally, I always insure that all my applications are properly shut down, via the Quit command, before I shut down either of my Macs.

Appreciate your thoughts, suggestions, etc.

Wife just got a new Macbook Air and she cannot get it to download Catalina. Keeps saying internet connection lost , noticed theres a lot of others with the same problem. We dont have any problems with our internet.

Second, who is your ISP? Along with that, what is your internet download "tier"? By that I mean the speed of downloads provided by your ISP. Our download speed, supplied by XFinity, is 200 Mbps.

Third, maybe try during "off hours".

I have a 2018 Mac Book Air, and no issues with downloading.

I am struggling to see how the location of OP, his ISP and the tier he pays for will affect his issue specific to downloading macOS Catalina. The only thing I can think of is just some random error that should subside with time. And, assuming there is no data cap being breached..

Where I come from, my location and ISP and the tier will be immaterial since this we are talking of downloading from a globally whitelisted website (Apple) and not about the ability to watch porn without a VPN.. :p

It has never appeared for me. I am also doing the beta tests, so I've seen the update process many times within the past few months, I haven't seen it.

Installed .3 on my two m/c's (rmbp-mid 2012 & 2018 mini) two days ago, no issues. I haven't tested the mini hdmi->hdmi thing yet, since the hdmi->displayport workaround is working fine. I'll test it when I have some time.
