For several people, this is now the only way to access the full installers. I always try the "normal" routes first, but it's almost always an extremely small source file.

If I don't belong in this thread feel free to just say so.
Based on what you're all talking about I feel i could find some answers i'm looking for.
I have an iMac13,2 late 2012, i7(3770)ivy bridge). Boot room is 287.0.0.0.0 i7 3770
The mlb was replaced but never serialized. my copies of bbs won't boot on this particular machine and gives me an efi error about not being able to load efi/drivers/testsupport.efi

I suspect it has to do with the boot room and would like to downgrade the boot room to something compatible with bbs (blank board serializer). Unless I'm missing something else...

....or alternatively if anyone knows anything of another software based way of serializing the mlb. BBS currently tried is v1 and v3t106 063-7137

You should ask about this on the iMac forum, not here on the Mac Pro forum.

Since the 5,1 firmware isn't getting any more updates, should we be looking at the MP6,1 ROM for updated APFS, NVMe EFI components?

It's seems we are back to hacking the ROM or sitting on the sidelines. Personally. I'd hate to see the 5,1 start gathering dust almost as much as you and many others on MacRumors. :cool:

Up to now, nothing in the BootROM improvements/modifications Apple has sending make 144.0.0.0.0 incapable of running Catalina DP9 or have any performance issues that I know of.

I have been tracking BootROM for all non BridgeOS Macs for more than a year and MP6,1 BootROM improvements have been very slow, it got just one update after the equivalent of 144.0.0.0.0. I'm paying a lot more attention to others 2012 Macs with IvyBridge processors getting frequent updates, like MM6,1 or some of the iMacs (IM13,1 and IM13,2).

In the future, some of the APFS EFI modules like APFSJumpStart or the NVMe EFI support maybe require that we return to injection and but for now it's definitively not needed.

NVMe injection era was very problematic since most people are incapable of even grasp what is needed to do it correctly and if we ever need to return to it, will be needed a very different approach and with a different set of tools, not the current ones that double inject and make a mess.

I haven't been able to find the answer to this question using the search function: can I upgrade to a BootROM that will allow me to use a NVMe drive as a boot drive while still being on 10.13.5? (I'm still using my 4,1 -> 5,1 machine.)

I ask because 10.13.6 causes problems on my system when I use my 560RX.

Yes, read the first post of the thread MP5,1: What you have to do to upgrade to Mojave (BootROM upgrade instructions thread). Pay attention on the requirements and pitfalls.

I don't think the GM build number would end with a letter. It's probably the last beta though.

I've been hanging back on 140.0.0.0.0 in case any issues arose after flashing 144.0.0.0.0. Has anyone found any bugs? I just want to make sure I'm good to go with this final BootROM.
