The 10.14.6 constant re-issues got a new chapter last night, Apple re-issued the Mojave full installer to 18G103 and re-did the Supplemental Update (it's a Recovery update):

061-21551 - macOS Mojave - 6,52GB
061-21545 - macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Supplemental Update 2 - 1,47GB


Since Apple now hides Mojave from the Mac App Store, this is the direct link https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-mojave/id1398502828?mt=12

Were they simply merging the security update into the recovery image, or was there something else?

One thing that I saw in the distribution file and and got me thinking about the way Apple is releasing updates now:

All these releases are 10.14.6: =/

I had a look on Gatekeeper Compatibility Data and interestingly, it's a Catalina only Security Update for the Gatekeeper database.

Mojave and earlier releases are not supported at all:

More updates for 10.14.6, this a beta and weird one, since the next Security Update should be called 2019-006:

061-30671 - Security Update Developer Beta 2019-001 - 1,55GB

New build after the update applied is 18G1005, btw. Can't be a re-issued 2019-001 since it requires 10.14.6 to be installed.

It's firmware updates and a Recovery Update, again

A consolidated update released as 10.14.7 seems a very good idea now, like @bsbeamer suggested above.

Apple just released a new build for the Catalina 10.15.0 MAS full installer. The new build is 19A602 while the original one was 19A583.

So I've already got Catalina on my CMP 4,1 upgraded to 5,1. I did not realize there was an update after 138.0.0.0.0, so that is what is on my machine right now under Catalina. Latest Mojave will not start the installer as it is "too old to be opened". I'm pretty sure I know how to build a bootable installer for Mojave. Question is, if I boot to the installer, does anyone know if it will update the Boot Rom and give me a chance to exit before it tries to put Mojave on over my Catalina install?

A big question regarding the nvme support, since it was added on 140.0.0.0 bootrom

What adapters are recommended to use? I recall reading that not any adapter was compatible with the cMP, so I want to be sure which one should I buy.

First, fully read this first post MP5,1: What you have to do to upgrade to Mojave (BootROM upgrade instructions thread).

Second, MP4,1>5,1 don't upgrade BootROM from USB, so, install El Capitan/Sierra/High Sierra to another disk, yes you'll need 10.11/10.12/10.13 since current Mojave will not install without BootROM 144.0.0.0.0, then upgrade it to Mojave.

Thank you for the help. Worked like a champ!
  • Shutdown the already installed Catalina, and removed my boot drive from the CMP.
  • Plugged in my original CMP video card.
  • Installed clean High Sierra to a new hard disk from a USB.
  • Added my metal compatible video card (both cards in system, Mojave installer would not start without a metal card in the system)
  • Started Mojave install. It said I needed firmware update. Held the power button till the led flashed. Grey progress bar came up and firmware installed (visible on old video card)
  • After High Sierra started, it said it would not finish the install of Mojave as all video cards had to be metal compatible.
  • Installed my old Catalina boot drive. Booted with both video cards in system so I could see to select the boot volume.
  • Boot hung with both video cards in system. Removed old video card and Catalina booted without a hitch. Verified I'm on FW 144.0.0.0.0
