Major Retailers that Support NFC Payments

Used Apple Pay at the self-checkout in my local Home Depot in Tacoma, WA. The payment terminal didn't have the NFC symbol. But after I chose Debit/Credit on the large screen that shows what I'm buying, the symbol then appeared on the payment terminal screen. I brought my iPhone close to the payment terminal and Apple Pay came up. I placed my thumb on the home button, got the green check, and green lights on the terminal flashed.

However, I still had to sign on the screen. It's probably just the logic of the software for any credit card transaction over a certain amount.

Add CircleK though they are an MCX member, ApplePay works there for now. Also add Goodwill! When at the checkout and the clerk asks for your card, tell them to select "sale" on the POS machine that has the little roll of paper in it (also used to swipe your card), then ask them to key the amount, then they should select "yes" once the amount is entered. Then, tell them you want to run the transaction as credit, then the NFC symbol will appear on the little screen and on of the 4 lights on the terminal light up, tap your phone to the screen, and you're all good! I used it last night, video of me doing this coming this weekend.

Goodwills are a very regional thing, because all of the ones in the Phoenix area, the credit card swipe is part of the POS system (a computer), not a separate terminal.

Did a checkout at a self checkout counter at Home Depot. Apple Pay worked great!

They didn't, they are enabling it store by store, mine didn't have it, and randomly it started working. Use the PayPass locator and see when it turns on. Home Depot works fine and still works great for me.

Yup! Some of the home depots in our area do not yet show NFC on the Mastercard app, though they still take it. I do think they will become officeal partners eventually.

The Home Depot near me (Tacoma, WA) accepted Apple Pay. Probably not officially, but the self-checkout payment terminal showed the NFC symbol on its screen after I chose Debit/Credit. Brought my iPhone near it, Apple Pay showed up, placed my thumb on the Home Button, and it approved the transaction. I still had to sign on the payment terminal though.

Peet's Coffee supports NFC payments - I've been using Apple Pay there for a few days.

Yes I was at HD today and used the self check out, doesnt say anything about NFC or ApplePay of course. Lifted my phone to the screen and boom it worked without a hitch.

jersey mikes has a update that will be installed in the next week. this *should* allow apple pay to go through. nfc chipped cards work but not google wallet or apple pay

Tried repeatedly at Petco today to use Apple Pay and it failed to work. Multiple times. Employees are also completely clueless.

Meanwhile, used it at Walgreens and McDonald's in the same day.... Worked seamlessly

Had my first Apple Pay hiccup. I went to the local Hess gas station and tried to prepay $50 worth of gas. The Apple Pay transaction was declined. I tried again, and it was declined again. I swiped - it worked - and I left.

So I called Capital One. The automated system told me that there was suspected fraudulent activity on my Visa account, and asked me to confirm if I was aware of the transactions. Of course, it was the two declined $50 charges. I figured it was that simple and that I'd try again next time.

Today was "next time". Bought a drink and $50 in gas.. Payment declined, again.

Called Capital One and got a human, who said that the transactions were declined because the CVV2 was entered incorrectly by the cashier. Huh? The CVV2 is the security code on the back of your card, which no one entered because the card never left my wallet. They hadn't seen this issue before with Apple Pay, even with other merchants. They suggest I contact Hess.

I tried another purchase at another Hess with the same results.

So I will try and call them and see what the deal is. My guess is that the acquiring bank is mucking up the process somehow, but who knows?

Anyone else had a problem like this?

Couldn't get it to work at Jewel Osco in the Chicago Burbs. It popped but nothing happened when I attempted to verify/complete with the finger scan. Still looking for my first success.

Chevron Did not accept Apple Pay

So, I deliberately sought out a Chevron today to use Apple Pay. I was willing to pay 19 cents more a gallon than a gas station across the street. There was no way to pay at the pump, so I went inside. The cashier did his thing with the register and I waived my phone over the terminal. My phone vibrated, the terminal recognized it, then the cashier stopped me and told me that he had to cancel the transaction.

He said that the "BIG BOSS" told them that they could not accept Apple Pay as it messes up their paperwork.

I am hoping for Apple Pay's sake, that this is just a local issue and not wide spread across Chevrons everywhere.

That's Dumb! You should have just pretended to swipe your card then did your phone anyway.

I've added a "Not accepted" list for retailers that have NFC terminals but choose to disable them for what-ever reason.
