There's no real reason to believe report.

But makes for interesting speculation in the 5 hours before such a release would be made public.

I don't actually know what Apple could do to the PowerBooks... since they were recently updated. New formfactor release perhaps? Seems speed bumps are too soon.

Price drop?

Is it possible the iBook G4 ate too much out of the PB's share
and so they need to make the PB more attractive?

I bet it's either just an over-hyped minor change,
or a small price drop. Or nothing at all, of course.

Sort of -- almost -- late for a Christmas buying season introduction...

Of course I lost track of the status of the LCD Assembly for the PB15.

if something happens, i think a price drop seems most viable ...

It's a nice non-obtrusive change.

To early for speed bums - only been like 2 months.

G5? thats more of a January event i think

tablet book? that would be kinda neat, unlikely though. along with a 10" and 19" powerbook... LOL

i like the official LCD fix for the 15"

but i think price drops seems like the safest bet, just in time for X mas shopping

Considering the season, maybe it is something that will be consumer oriented. Again, it could be a move to clear inventories before January.

Not a powerbook

Nothing will happen to the PowerBooks, but maybe displays could be updated for the PowerMacs. It is just too soon for changes in the portables, unless a new product gets announced. There were rumours about a sub-$1000 device. I wonder if this is it.

I would probably just dismiss this. If anything, they will just lower the price slightly. Or maybe up the graphics RAM on the 12" to 64MB (what it should be to be honest).

Price drop, but could also be speed bump as well which will generate some more sales for folks wanting next best thing.

I expect the 17inch 1.42G4 is coming within the next two months.

Well, perhaps they are going to introduce a 15" Powerbook that is working and available. Would be great for a change ... ;)

The only thing that they could do is to correct some problems with the design of the 15 in. -- The others are virtually flawless for Apple products.

So, maybe some speed bumps, but I think the iBook/PowerBook comparisons on barefeats.com pretty much discount any advantage of getting an iBook if you are reliant on/plan to do 3D or Photoshop heavy work.

Get the 17 incher if that's the case!

if apple's fiscal year starts jan 1, expect price cuts. they've got to move as much product as they can before the end of the year.

makes sense. squeeze extra cash out of black monday shoppers, bring in hesitant ones with price cuts, clear inventory for end-of-year statements, win-win-win.

Exactly my point. I've been waiting for mine since September 21st ... still nothing here ...

I start having fits of aggressive behaviour towards advertising materials for the 15" AluBook. ;)

BTW: Is availibility of 15" AlBooks an issue in the States or is it once again just "Old Europe"?

I hope not!!

I would be very sad and a bit upset since I recently bought a 15" PB.

I don't think it'll happen.

Now how about releasing 10.3.2 and fix all these issues I'm having.

The time to do this was a week ago.

Seems unlikely, but updates are always welcome

Probably a $200 or $100 discounts depending on what model you get.

But speed bump will be coming if not now it will happen in Jan.

I expect the PB will be revamped completely when they pump the G5 into it's PB lineup.

I Don't see anything, I Don't think there's any update unless they're foolish enough to do a 20" or something

I'm still waiting for my PowerBook 15" ordered from a reseller on 10th November. They were expecting stock from Apple today but the status as changes from 2/12/2003 to overdue. I could have told them it was overdue!

If this unlekely rumor is true does Apple offer refunds/upgrades to those people who bought through a reseller?
