AlDente is also kind of a "when it works" thing. I didn't use it when my MBA was new, and half the time when it installs an update (or a MacBookAirOS update rolls out), it resets to 100% and has to be cranked back to 80% or whatever your target is. Probably switching to a Chromebook when the MBA is no longer supported or its battery becomes unusable.

I wonder how low CoconutBattery's capacity has to get for Apple's own battery info to reach 80%
Depends... do you have AppleCare+ on this? If so, it will depend on what Apple diagnostics show Battery Health % as - as many people have referenced, Apple's own diagnostics tend to show a fair amount higher in Battery Health than Coconut Battery...
My understanding is on the 2021+ generation of MacBook Pros, the battery continues to be soldered on, so you get a new topcase when you replace the battery. So given that, they will continue to be pretty strict on only replacing the battery (Either through AppleCare+ for free, or paying the out-of-warranty battery replacement fee) only if their diagnostic shows <80%.

this tracks with mine at around that many cycles in November 2023. I did not use AlDente at the time
My battery now has 160 cycles and the battery capacity is reporting 89% in coconutbattery

The chances it'll degrade another 2% in one year? >99%. You're easily in the clear.
That said... if you're anxious and want to make the process go faster start running handbrake and a GPU benchmark (furmark, 3DMark, etc) at the same time until the battery runs dead, charge it all the way back up (with the official charger) rinse repeat as many times as you can when you're not actually using it.
Anyway, my personal M1 Max MBP, purchased in December 2021 is at 88% according to Apple and 83.2% according to coconut battery.

Cheers, also thinking of charging it with some mild heat beneath the battery as I think that will put paid to it. Was definitely not my intention and was actually looking after it but after it lost like 10% in a year mayaswell push through. I think it will degrade another 2% for sure, but doesn't it need to degrade another 5%? Talking based upon the official apple number, as that's what they'll look at
Did you try to discharge Mac fully and charge to full? Maybe even do it twice. It helped me to gain 9% of battery capacity back. By recalculating it’s real capacity.
Yep tried that a few times, didn't change much if at all. Never had a battery degrade so fast!
