Yes like i said before the credit should go to Motorola who invented mobile phones in 1973.
But, apple played a huge role developing the magic of touch screen.

They didn't invent that either. Touchscreens had been around for years and again, Samsung first used icons with a touchscreen but Apple are the kings of taking someone else's innovation and making it better and then sueing over it lol.

Most of Apple’s lawsuits were thrown out in other countries. It was only really in the US that Apple won. A lot of the cases were thrown out in the UK, Germany, Japan and South Korea.

Samsung took some inspiration from Apple but a lot of it was prior design and had been around for years. Apple put all the technology into a consumer friendly package but most of the technology had been around for years.

As typical the history of innovation gets muddled and conflated. IMO, touchscreen circa 1965 + windows circa 1983 is the genesis of where we are today with icons on a touch screen

Indeed. It’s become more clear now than ever that an OS outside of the USA is needed, and less reliance overall on US based companies for tech is definitely required.

The next decade is going to be very interesting after all this, no matter which way it goes. Beautiful thing about the mobile industry is how dynamic it is, due to smartphones being the most personal devices in our lives.

There are a LOT of mobile operating systems already out there. Alternative operating systems is not the problem. There have been plenty of them since early on.
But the reason they haven't succeeded is there are no apps for them. No reason for app devs to port their apps to another operating system when Android or IOS has done so well for them.
Then there is no big company spending billions back it like Google has for Android.

America don’t care about South Korea. It’s a small country and can’t in anyway threaten their dominance. They are also allies with South Korea and have been since the end of the Korean War. South Korea rely on the US for protection.
