The past 2 days I have kept the phone no higher than 80% charge. My battery health HAS improved!
*NO MagSafe charging, heavy use yesterday with photos, video...battery life yesterday was great. No stuck numbers...showed what seemed like a regular decline. (I didn't reboot the phone to see if the % dropped...not going to worry about that bug right now)

Was showing this dismal - and I will admit depressing 94-95% health from Wed. to Sat night after 15.0.2 last week, Saw an improvement to 99.4 last night, it's now back to 101.5%

Not the launch day "health" of 104% right now - MAYBE I'll get back there or close to it...but I'll take it.

8:15am reading
Battery Current Charge: 3590 mAh (79.3%)
Battery Design Max. Charge: 4325 mAh
Battery Effective Max. Charge: 4420 mAh (101.5%)
Battery Charge Cycles: 8
Battery Temperature: 24.4 °C / 75.9 °F

Battery Avg. Temperature: 22.0 °C / 71.6 °F

So the issue has to do with charging to 100%. Apple’s battery charging algorithm is really messed up. Hope iOS 15.1 fixes this.

just curious as to how it's missed up? This has always been the case with previous IOS (i.e From Original iPhone to iOS 15). When your phone is fully charged to 100% it will stay there for a long time (always been the case with previous models as well). I've always noticed that the phone will report 99% when Coconut Battery (I'm sure other software out there as well) will read actual reading is 94. I don't think this is a bug IMO.

Someone posted that they are running iOS 14.8 and the battery percentage was matching Coconut Battery. I am charging to 80% and I am seeing the same thing where the battery percentage will stay at 80% for a long time before it drops. I understand why the battery percentage stays at 100% due to the higher max capacity of the battery.

And the behavior @PhillyGuy72 has seen is odd.

Then that person who posted might be a bug because It never matches unless if it's 100% or if someone just charged it and then unplugged it. In which case, it will stay at that % for a while. Likewise. I charged mine to 80% last night, unplugged it. Coconut Battery did read 79%. This morning it was still 80% and coconut battery read 76%. Currently my phone is sitting at 74% and Coconut Battery is reading 70.1%. This has always been the case with previous models and phones.

Even if you charged to 75%, Coconut battery may still read 74% and your phone will stay 75% for a while and when it goes to 71% it the phone % should drop to 74%. I've always noticed there is always 4-6% difference in readings. But then I don't always rely on coconut battery. It's just an observation that I noticed.

Nice recovery in Coconut. I have NO idea what that % dip was about.
(iMazing currently shows 103.6% "health")

Actually beyond thrilled I'm not in the mid 90's like last week...that was a major bummer.
I am a tad hesitant to ever update this again...LOL.

Im noticing that my 11 pro max battery actually lasted longer. This is my second full day with the 13 pro max. Is this normal?

I’ve been noticing that too coming from my 11 pro max. When I got my 13 pro max the battery life had been amazing and better than my 11….until two or three days ago. Now I’m running into faster battery drain and battery percentage issues on 15.0.2…

Uh oh. Is there a way to fix this?

Little oddity a few days ago. Phone still showing the 102%-103% range 2 months later, which I'm thrilled about. Showed that this past Sat. morning. I did a backup on iTunes for the heck of it since it's been a while. After that, the Coconut (and iMazing) showed a big drop in health. Back in the mid 90s% range, (wth!?). That lasted all day Sat, all day yesterday. I wasn't TOO concerned yet because this happened before...and hoped it would recover again. No hard reset.

I checked it 30 min ago and it's back to 102-103% range again. (iMazing shows 103.4-103.6% range)

Very odd, only thing I did was backup the phone..so perhaps this does something to % in Coconut?? (Just guessing...I really have no idea, I never saw that before.) ??‍♂️

Some little quirks here and there in the past 2 months, nothing horrible though. I'm still darn happy with the phone & battery in 13 Pro Max.

I’m experiencing a similar problem! I’m curious after all that, what’s your maximum capacity in the ios settings? does it go back to 100% too?

It always showed 100% in iOS "Battery Health" settings, still does, even though Coconut immediately showed 94.1% (after 15.0.2 update) and another drop in late Nov. Odd.

Currently Coconut still shows 103.1% (iMazing has a 103.9%). Knock on wood, battery is still acting darn well... daily battery drain, no complaints at all. I removed Apple News a few weeks ago since this started running non stop for 5-6 days in the background for some reason, this was causing drain. Always some app that goes rogue suddenly.

BUT, I don't know how this (health, %) will react after another update, this 15.2...silly fear, what can I say.

Still, it's FAR FAR better than my previous 12 Pro Max, At the 2 month mark this past Feb. this was at 99% health already in iOS, 93.9% in coconut, battery never recovered and just went downhill fast from there. Traded that phone in w/ 83% battery health.

In my unprofessional (I’m just a hobbyist) opinion - I think that this supports the idea that one needs to look at the whole of their battery health from start to finish to have a better picture of health. Where one starts off, the dips, and the gradual downgrade if there is one. Like PhillyGuy above - temporary dips could be software, could be chemical, who knows. If I had that phone, I’d chalk it up to a software “blip” and continue to monitor.

Both my wife’s and my 13 PM are holding steady at 102.9%. I’m using my iPad far more than any device these days so my iPhone isn’t getting a ton of use.

Aren’t iMazing or 3utools results not allowed ?
I haven’t used iMazing since last year - but from what I saw, it pulled from the same Apple system data that coconutBattery did. If you mean does Apple take them seriously? Then correct, they do not. Apple’s own internal status reader has to verify itself that the battery is bad or under their 80% threshold. Despite both iMazing and coconutBattery going off of Apple’s own system stats - Apple will refuse to acknowledge them as legitimate.

Yeah you’re right it does. I remember the figures being same when I used coconut battery on MacBook.

3UTools shows something completely different than the two it would appear. Both displaying results at same time.
