Does anyone have experience returning an order after receiving a trade-in refund? I'm looking to return my BTO 16-inch to get one with more storage, but I did a trade-in with my MacBook order that gave me a partial refund to my card as opposed to the gift card that you normally get for trade-ins.

I've talked to a few chat reps on Apple's site, but I haven't gotten a straight answer. Will I receive a full refund of the MacBook, and will it all go back to my card, or will they split it between my card and a gift card since they issued a partial refund for the trade-in?

After first getting a MBP in 2009 (see username), followed up with a late 2013 MBA, I’m finally gonna get a new 13“ MBP this week. After placing my order I of course immediately developed anxiety that I didn’t wait for whatever mold-breaking new 2020 design they’ll inevitably reveal like next week or whatever. Is being reassured that I made a great purchase one of the services offered in this thread? Ignore if not. Otherwise, this is my MacBook!:
13-inch MacBook Pro
2.4GHz quad‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655
16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory
256GB SSD storage
Retina display with True Tone
Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
Touch Bar and Touch ID

That configuration is not particularly good value, IMHO. You're within spitting distance of the base 16" which would give you way more machine for your money. If you absolutely need the portability of the 13", the base 1.4 GHz quad-core i5 is better value.

:( but what if i want the portability of the 13 but with some extra horsepower? Is it being wasted on the 13?

Hi all, looking to get a mbp in the range of 1k to 1200. I was going to go for the 2019 base model but can't believe Apple is only offering 128gb ssd. On ebay right now closing in on a buy, 2016 mpb, 1 tb ssd, 16 gb ram, 3.3 dual core i7, battery and keyboard were just replaced so 0 battery cycle count. I can buy it for 1 grand. My needs are student related but would like a powerful laptop that would last a while. What do ya'll suggest?

Or should I downgrade to the 2.6 but get 32gb of ram and still 5500M 8GB
Just ordered my new MacBook Pro. Will be my portable editing, music , writing and photo rig (and learning programming) plus school alongside my 27 iMac.

2.3 i9
Radeon 5500M 8GB
16gb
1TB SSD

That‘s the exact model I’m considering, and like you I‘m a little torn on whether to go for 32 GB RAM, but I don’t think I will. Apple being Apple it’s a very (and unreasonably) hefty and inflated cost for just an extra 16. The cost of going to 32 GB is way more than you’ll save by opting for the 6-core i7 (only $100 or so).

Looking ahead, the next refresh should see 10th-gen CPUs on 10 nm with significantly faster LPDDR4 RAM, both of which should help the thermals and performance even further. I figure that if 16 GB really does become a bottleneck I could sell and buy again. Probably lose a fair bit though...

I just ordered a MacBook Pro 16" to replace my old 2018 15", I'm running out of RAM quite often now, so I decided to upgrade that to 32GB, and want to be able to do some occasional gaming, so upgraded to Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB for that purpose (previously got a base-model that I returned without opening it).

  • 2.3GHz 8-core 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processor
  • 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 memory
  • 1TB SSD storage
  • 16-inch Retina display with True Tone
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Backlit Keyboard - Norwegian
  • Space Gray
Apple have estimated delivery between 27th and 29th of January to me in Norway, but I suspect it will arrive much faster, hopefully by the end of next week.

EDIT January 7th: Updated delivery estimate to 24th - 27th of January.

I had a doh moment, of course I mean January ?

Yeah that’s a really slow estimate. Any model I configure estimates a week for me in Sydney. I think you’ll get it by mid-January at the latest.

We are a bit closer to China though, I think? (Not by much).

From my previous experiences with orders shipped from China, it takes about 4-5 business days from when it's sent to it is delivered at my door, so it depends on how quickly it will be shipped from their factory, as the order says 4-6 business days to shipping. I'm hoping for delivery by end of next week though.

Just got my 16" MBP base spec (i7, 5300M, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD) in the post to replace my 2018 MacBook Air which was a bit underpowered for my needs. I am really impressed with it so far, especially the keyboard compared to the Butterfly keyboard on the Air. I am not quite convinced on the Touch Bar yet, but I'm sure I'll get used to it in time ?

I had a 2.3 / 32gb ram / 8gb vram / 1tb ssd and returned it because it was draining lot of battery when the lid was closed and the battery capacity stuck on 94-96% and not moving with only 12 cycles. Also the screen was kind of yellowish.

I ordered then another one changing the processor so I am waiting for a i7 2.6 / 32gb ram / 8gb vram / 1tb ssd and the delivery date is 17-21 jan. I would expect it from 15 to 17 jan. Let's see what happens now!

Most seem to say the 2.4 GHz processor is the last thing you should upgrade. I wish they stocked the 1 TB, 32/8 GB models in store because that seems to be popular.
