battery %

IPhone 5S sits down at 20 - 50% battery power, indicates drained battery. When hooked up to charge, phone comes on on, with battery level at same 20 - 50% level where it shut down. Battery is only 1 yr old (first replacement battery). Is this anything ither than the end of battery life?

the tMBP in my sig has had major battery issues since upgrading to High Sierra. With my typical workload and settings, I could squeeze somewhere between 8-9 hours before getting to about 5%. In High Sierra, that is basically in half with a similar workload. I went from 100% to 60% in two hours...
