GG3 is harder than GG2

Some folks are going to be disappointed if it's not entirely made out of sapphire but whether it will be or not, it looks to be stronger than the existing screen on the 5s and that's a plus in my book.
You're right! lol
Its flexibility and scratch resistance look like GG3... I personally would have preferred sapphire # Sounds like a very Apple thing to do though... Twice the price, half the features. So the screen was not provided by the android camp lol. IOS8 is twice the version of Kitkat4 with half the features. If HD audio is included I might still consider the 4.7" version. I'd have to think real hard about 5.5" .... It will be way overpriced and oversized.(for me). I'd like to switch from Android just for cool factor... So where's the cool?... Lots of cool new Android phones are coming though and Apple doesn't want to provide an iphone6 but more of an iphone5.1. Maybe next year.

probably not pure sapphire screen like we all had wished for, but its defitnetly more flexible, scratch resistant then all smartphone glass today and any iphone so that is nothing but a +, it could even be more shatterproof,

Please, if you're so enlightened tell us all how it works then. I mean you must be an expert to so vigorously claim I know nothing, apart from what you Tubers state on their videos that is.

Not sure what you've heard in YouTube videos for revenue, but it's actually against policy for them to mention it and can result in immediate suspension. I wouldn't expect any youtuber to want to risk that, but you never know (not claiming you're lying, just stating facts about policy).

I can say that while I was partner we saw under $1 per 10,000 views. I don't remember exact numbers, but I do remember that even on the best days where I saw 50k views I made around $3. The algorithms may change with view count but I doubt it.

Easiest way to get a good example is to look up revenues for companies that exist almost solely off of revenue from YouTube or at least report earnings separately (off the top of my head Epic Meal Time is a good example). Decide those revenues by views and you get a pretty decent idea. They pay pennies for thousands of views in every instance I have ever researched. Granted I don't sit here checking up on these folks, so I suppose I could have missed something. But with more experience than the average person on the market I think it's likely in not too far off.

Would you mind sharing what features are missing? I ask because I use both and I honestly can't think of twice as
Many features that kit kat has even compared to iOS 7. I'm rather happy with how feature rich iOS 8 is going to be.

(Please let's not mention customization, widgets, or side loading apps. I concede those are things android does very well. It's also not something I think most folks be it android or iOS users actually honestly care about)

True - I'm sure that will hit in the future at some point. What I'm really interested in is the drop tests, which can't really be done until a retail unit is released. If this new material is more shatter proof than gorilla glass then they're really onto a winner!

The three things we've mentioned I'd put in this order of importance

Shatter resistance > Water resistance > Scratch resistance

Yes, I think that is very fair, I wouldn't argue against that order, ATM I have not dropped or got my phone wet, I suppose the first one that happens to me would cement the order in place.:D

I definitely agree that they will be on a winner if it is more shatter and scratch proof than GG:)

This whole thread is rediculous speculation with almost zero science. Even a univ chem lab could just run the stuff through a mass spectrometer, even just one of the remaining fragments, and we would know what's in there. My guess is that the panel came from a goo phone, as have many of these "leaks."
You sure have a twisted view on science. It must sound really simple when you read it all up on wikipedia.

Beef offal is still beef. And it can taste very nice if done well. It's all from the same animal.

I was shopping for hamburgers one day and decided to look at the ingredients. When I saw cow hearts and other organs I almost fainted. I wouldn't be surprised if they used cow penis and balls in the mix as well. That's not something I want to think about when biting into a burger.
That's how I feel about this screen. Don't call it sapphire when you're mixing other crap in it. It's more scratch resistant than gorilla glass but not as scratch resistant as sapphire.
Would I still rock a "glass" screen protector? I don't know. A screen scratch will ruin my experience. The best accessory I've bought was a glass screen protector but I'm worried that the curve at the edges would prevent a clean look.

I seriously doubt AAPL is going to put sapphire on the new iphone. I think whatever partnerships they made were to produce sapphire for their watches.

Out of curiosity why do you put AAPL, it's not the name of the firm you are talking about?

(I know what it means, just can't understand why you would use it)

Let me enlighten you then, the truth of You Tube is people get paid to favour products in their reviews.
These are the story's from this year surrounding games:

That's not how it works at all. The more subscribers a person gets, not just views, the pay gets bumped considerably in each bracket. You start getting bigger sponsorships and the ads in your videos will start coming from larger companies because your videos are going to get x amount of views from x amount of subscribers. A family member of mine currently makes over 5K a month from 100K subscribers. Her pay is rather consistent even though some of her vids have over 2 million views.

Basically, the more popular you get on YouTube, your pay goes up considerably in each bracket. When you hit 100k...200k...300k etc subscribers... you're going to be making a lot of money. When you hit 1 million you'll be loaded. Your value for ad revenue is tremendous because they know a large amount of people will be viewing your videos... so they know people will see their ad or product. She gets all sorts of free stuff as well to review.

These folks with 1 mil+ subscribers are VERY well off. Don't be fooled. If someone is stating they're not making that much when they've hit that point, they're flat out lying.

So the rumours can do what no other person or thing in the world can, make Jon Ive smile? That really is amazing.

Well someone at WWDC got him to smile, but it is a rare occurrence.

I would love a sapphire panel on my device, but I'm highly doubting it will come on a iPhone 6. It's hard to believe that in such a short amount of time they would be able to make enough panels for every iphone 6. And to throw in the rumors of a iwatch using a sapphire display. And I'm sure if apple is making sapphire cheaper then the home button covers and camera covers will surely be made by them. It makes more sense to use the sapphire on the iwatch. And maybe even the two covers. Make sure everything works out before you put them on iphones. GG is a amazing product. My iPhone 5s sits in my pocket with no screen protector and it still looks brand new. I think it would be more beneficial to use gg3 this time around and maybe use that as a selling point for the 6s. I hope I'm wrong because I would love a sapphire display!

I will wait for a propper test, with a production iphone 6, that's not made by an android fanboy that's being paid by google.

I'd rather call him an Apple fanboy than google... and as a professional reviewer he's pretty neutral.

Maybe you should take off your apple fanboy glasses ;-)

Some rumors suggest sapphire might just be on the 64gb model. Apple wants a premium and lower cost phone. It doesnt look like it worked that good with the 5c. This could make sense.

Assuming this is the case, was the video posted just Gorilla glass for the lower end phone or the sapphire material?

GG3 is not remotely that flexible. GG3 would instantly shatter the moment you try to flex it.

What's wrong with a little offal mixed in with the burger meat? it's all part of the animal and very nutritious. You are not buying a rump steak. You are buying minced beef. Mince coming from all of the animal.

Same deal with the sapphire glass. You are not buying a sapphire crystal. You are buying man made sapphire glass. It's still sapphire glass but it has many other elements in the mix too. Just like gold rings. Very few rings are 24ct gold but we call them all gold rings. The glass will be mostly sapphire with a few other elements added to add hardness or strength or whatever.

In short.
Rump steak = Pure, from the animal.
Beef mince = All beef but man made and all kinds of beef in it.
Sapphire crystal = pure, made by the Earth
Sapphire glass sheet = Made by man and improved my man.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_spectrometry

What exactly would be twisted about running a fragment through a mass spectrometer?
It's not like you just go to some chemical lab and ask someone to run a test for you, he puts the panel in, waits 4 seconds and the computer says "YES ITS SAPPHIRE". Life is not like CSI Miami.

Those instruments are expensive and their operation is nontrivial. The "fragment" probably needs to be prepared and the mass spectrometers must be highly specialised for materials like sapphire (and believe me, it's not like every chemical lab has one of those standing around, free to use and fully operational). The results are pretty tedious to interpret and unless the material is 100% sapphire they pretty much say nothing. X-ray spectroscopy would probably be much more useful in this case, but still:

Scientific instruments are not some black boxes to put stuff in and some magic inside gives you the answer to your question. Even a seemingly simple task like this needs time, people with a lot of knowledge and a lot of money.

But that's an S3 with Gorilla Glass 2. Interesting video but old phone.

If gorilla glass 3 was as flexible as that alleged sapphire thingy is, Corning would be trumpeting it for sure. Apple and GTAT have cooked up something special for sure...
