Own one since September. Fortunately never had the issue.

It's probably "a small number of users" who are having these issues.... just like the "small number of users" who were "having issues with their third-generation butterfly keyboard." I'm sure Apple is sorry and "the vast majority of Mac notebook customers are having a positive experience." It's because of these positive experiences that Apple is going back to the scissor switch keyboard.

Do you have any data to backup your claim?

Quality at Apple died when Steve Jobs passed
Do you mean the same Steve Jobs of iPhone 4 antenna ? Or time capsule ? Or even Mac G5 liquid cooling?

This is obviously a small amount but macrumors as always has to be over dramatic and claim apple is now a disaster and "Steve wouldn't let this happen" and "bring back Scott forstall" and "this wouldn't happen if apple still sold a 4 inch phone" etc and the usual crap spouted on here everyday.

Whenever you mass produce something there is ALWAYS a small amount that are faulty. its just the way it is. Its the same with every tech product. My HP laptop from work the screen was coming away from the corner and almost came off completely. The engineer said this is fairly common. Imagine if this was happening to the MacBooks many off you would have a coronary.

Even so, its likely software related and will be fixed soon. Stop being so hysterical.

Settle down MR commenters.

This is likely just a software bug. They happen.

Exactly! It's utterly exhausting to hear commenters in these forums anymore. Things like this happen to every type of item with every single brand and it's usually a very small amount of people affected. They just want to whine and bitch and be angry over every little mishap.

I take issue that a "pro" machine with a substantial base price tag is considered "entry-level"

Entry level means "Entry into that tier of machine", not "beginner".

I’m sure for people with this issue “utterly exhausting “. You just spent $$$$ on a MacBook and yet another issue pops up.

Yes this stuff happens but it certainly seems to be happening far to often at Apple. Wether it’s software or hardware

Tim Cook needs to start demanding better. It looks bad when your ceo is grandstanding on political and social issues, while frequently releasing software with tons of bugs and hardware that has problems. His “real” job should be pushing for perfection at Apple.

The best part: The credit card company removed the charge from our bill, and the retailer has NOT asked for the laptop back.

The laptop is technically "hot" so I can't use it. I'm thinking a "Will it blend" type of experiment? Or some sort of destructive unboxing? This type of end for the POS makes even more sense now that we know it's probably defective anyway.

Please respond with ideas as to how it shall meet its destructive end.

Obvious answer is to return it to the retailer. Duh

Steve had plenty of ‘quality’ issues with products under his helm. Nice attempt at a spin though....
Literally..... this board in a nutshell - any time an issue occurs: "Wouldnt happen if Steve were here!!!"

As if there were no issues when he was still alive, everything was perfect and everyone was always smiling. SMH.

Unfortunate for those affected. Sometimes stuff just goes wrong, but at least Apple are mostly pretty good in after sales service.

Hopefully this doesn’t mean they are doomed just yet ☠

Remember when everyone would complain about Steve's Reality Distortion Field™?
