Yea cause he had me try one while on the phone and got the same response in regards to too many recent apps

Hello!
I tried applying 11 days ago and got the "couldn't verify ID". After reading your post just now, tried applying again and I got the "too many recent attempt" even though it has been 11 days since my last application.

Figured I’d chime in because I just got a call from an Apple Card specialist at Goldman Sachs. She told me they are unable to verify Oregon drivers licenses and have no eta on when they will but are working hard to improve there verification service. Oregon recently (December) updated there licenses, and there system doesn’t recognize that.

She said there having problems with any state that has recently done so, and with the real ID cards, and enhanced licenses. So if anybody has any of those, they will not get through the verification if they get asked. Seems to be completely random the people that get asked to verify and those that don’t.

i did tell her I was finally able to get through and approved with another form of ID, but she didn’t ask me what kind. Passports are also not supported but I (like a few others) was able to get passed verification with it. So if you have one of those types of id's, try your passport, or unfortunately you'll have to wait until there system gets updated to accept the new drivers licenses

So... the only two pieces of identification accepted by the Department of Homeland Security/TSA (passport and enhanced driver license) are NOT accepted at the Apple Card processing department within Goldman Sachs? Very interesting... Is Shemp Howard still the president of GS?

Yeah apparently Gs is supposed to verify ID better than DHS

Anybody else having problems applying for there Apple Card? I have tried several times over the past 2 days and it keeps coming back with the same "identity cannot be verified" screen. I have entered my full SSN and provided pictures of my photo id,(Drivers License) and it simply will not accept them. I have gone over every detail with a fine tooth comb to see if there was a small typo anywhere, and there is not. I have tried submitting the id under several lighting conditions and backgrounds, and I even tried using my passport card to see if my id for some reason wasn't being accepted.

I have called Apple Support 3 times, the last time got a "supervisor" at Goldman Sachs who said he has escalated it and will be in touch when there is a resolution, but gave no time frame.

I was so excited I got the invite, but this really is the most trouble I've ever had applying for a card. I suppose this is why there doing a "preview" rollout

I have tried multiple times since August 12 to apply for an Apple Card on my iPhone XS Max and continue to be rejected with the same email message “identity cannot be verified”. I unfroze My TransUnion credit report well before applying for the Apple Card and have a TransUnion email verifying I unfroze It. I even confirmed my identity with TransUnion on the phone and received an email from TransUnion confirming my identity. I then applied for my Apple Card as I received an invitation? I received my first message ID not verified by email. I called Apple Support August 12 and was put through to Goldman Sachs Apple Card agent Ebony and she said an agent would return my call. I did not hear from Apple Card so on August 14 I spoke to Alex in Apple Support and he had me send him a screen print showing the message Identity cannot be confirmed. I gave Alex access to my iPhone XS Max so that he could verify i had IOS 12.4 installed and Alex took my SEID number and sent it to the Apple engineers. He and I went through several screens. On Saturday Aug 17 - yesterday morning - Apple card Goldman Sachs agent Benjamina called me and told me she had everything fixed and suggested I apply again. She stayed on the line and we verified my home address was an exact match to my Calif DL, verified My compete SSN and all the information on each screen of the application process. She was surprised when I told her the message daid my ID was not verified. She had access from her endd to the same email I received saying ID not verified. We read out the email together to the apple Card email. We tried the application process again - same message ID not verified. i have multiple emails saying ID not verified! She advised me to wait a few days and try again. In 2017 I opened a Hyatt Visa card. I spent three or four minutes on the phone to the Chase agent. She was great. After I gave her my PIN to temporarily unfreeze my credit after a brief two minute review she told me my credit card had been approved. Great service from Chase. Expected the same from Apple and Goldman Sachs. I am wary of Apple now. You can expect bugs at the.beginning of the card rollout but not after a week. Not impressed!

I have had an enhanced Calif DL For more than six months. Is that the reason my ID cannot be verified by Apple Card Goldman Sachs? Why did Apple choose Goldman Sachs?

It may not be the entire reason, but it looks like it might be a factor...

I guess the question to ask would be whether anyone with an enhanced driver license has been approved ... and curious about the whole "need to verify your ID" ... I was never asked nor prompted for anything more than name, address, last 4 of SSN and annual income.

Me neither. I have a enhanced ID but I also have my older one

Yes, some have been approved. I personally was approved without a hitch using my California Real ID drivers License.

It seems to be. Other people have commented on this thread that the ID verification system can't read their enhanced licenses. And at least one person claims to have been told by a GS specialist that they do know the system does not accept those licenses for now.

Two different scenarios. A lot of us have “too many recent apps” and you barely got that status
Just adding a “too many apps”, data point as well. Was also one of the ones to get the “resubmit your Apple ID” email, did that, have yet to receive anything. Have also been asked during the process previously for Full SSN, ID (have a Real ID, but not enhanced), as well as sharing with GS what Apple products I have. Curious when these “enhancements” are supposed to go into place and the flag comes off. Otherwise it’s pointless to try and reapply multiple times as advertised it seems.

Edit: Apparently you can reapply as many times as you like, but can only have one application in at a time, lol

It’s kinda dishonest to let people apply as many times as they want, knowing that they really can’t and it will prevent them by coming up with an error

Especially since their support people explicitly told me to keep trying until it goes through haha.

My partners FINALLY went through after about the 10th attempt. He has the standard Arkansas Drivers license (Non Enhanced). It kept saying that it can’t read the license.

We tried on multiple surfaces. The picture was clear every time with no glare.
Finally, we put a lamp right right next to the ID on a black wooden surface and made sure it had no glare before it was accepted. It wasn’t easy avoiding glare with a light directly next to it.

Once we did that, the ID was verified and he received his first official response. Up until then, it wouldn’t accept the ID. There was no denial, just couldn’t get past taking the picture.

On that note, it took multiple attempts on that same surface for my application to accept the picture of the ID. However, I wasn’t approved because they said that they can not verify my identity.
I do have the Enahnced ID.
I texted Apple and was transferred (in the iMessage text) to GS. They told me that system doesn’t support the AR Real ID due to the hologram.

On that note, it’s extremely frustrating that Apple isn’t stepping up and making a statement that their systems aren’t up to Par.

Real ID is NOT new in Arkansas. It’s been available since 2016.

I was simply told by GS to use my old license. Which, the DMV doesn’t let you keep.
So, I’m stuck because Apple doesn’t support or require GS to support THE MORE SECURE Real ID.

Exactly. There seems to be a limit. I got the "too many attempts" error too after about a week or two of trying (I tried a total of around 10 times, maybe less).
